Pre-Purchase Inspections - Recommendations?

Hi,

Looking to purchase an M3 privately in the next couple of months however I would like to have an inspection carried out on any vehicle before I purchase it. Can anyone recommend any mechanics that do call outs that specialize in euro/bmw/ or even better M3s on the east coast of Australia?

I am based in Sydney but am likely to travel to either VIC or QLD if the right car comes up.

Cheers,
Dan

I would say most if not all M3s have had a good run close to the redline. These cars are designed to run all day every day at the limits from my understanding and unless it's spent a life on the track I don't think I'd be too concerned.

BMW Aust obviously sell off their ex-driver training M3s which have been thrashed on tracks around the country and I've not heard of any second-hand owners whinging on this forum.

I'd look for the usual body damage repair and excess mileage. To be honest, the engine would be the last of my concerns if I was in the market - so long as it's not a private sale.

I will most likely be purchasing privately hence why I wanted a thorough inspection on things like the engine/gearbox/diff etc. My brother had a thorough inspection done on his evo before he purchased it and a few issues like these were discovered...

dan0s... you can get RACQ to do a thorough inspection - in terms of an inspection that is more qualified... I only know that you could take it to a dealer (preferrably one that didn't service the car).
