Car Parks Arghhhh!
After a wonderful weekend this afternoon I discover that someone has opened a door into my rear passenger door leaving a dint and a bit of a scuff!
I'm absolutely livid! I often try to park away from people to avoid this but with town being full of xmas shoppers it was impossible today. MAD MAD MAD!! Anyone know is its realistic to get this repaired? I've also got the remains of a cyclist on the drivers side who decided he liked my car so much that he wanted to hit my door. Thankfully I knocked him off his bike though, he was very apologetic, although that didn't repair the damage to my car! If anyone knows any decent repair places in Yorkshire feel free so shout out. ARGHHHHHH! |

Sorry to hear about the ding. The first month I had my car, some douchebag at work opened his door on my car. PDR at the BMW dealership charged me $140 to get the ding and crease out. So try the PDR. You can find them everywhere. Just get few good referrals before you take the car to them. Not all PDR techs are equally skilled.

I had someone out to repair the same on mine.
Had a car park dink but a long narrow one and all the way down it (about 6") it looked like it was scuffed as well as dented so thought the paint was cracked. Local PDR guy came out and repaired it while I watched and it was amazing. No paint involved and you couldnt tell at all it was every damaged Cost about £50 |

Bastards these people who park up against our cars and open doors against them without a thought.
I'm fanatical about it. The work these PDR guys are capable of is nothing short of amazing. Relax, I think you'll be OK.

I just had to get my front wing repaired and painted after some moron clipped it in a car park
First time ive had to do this as i usually park over 2 spaces, what boils my p&^s is that supermarkets are now issuing fines for such parking, pity they are not so quick with fines for hitting peoples cars and driving off |

Fuck the supermarkets, home delivery for the win.
Or take the daily hack in there instead.

I often park as far away from the supermarket as possible in order to avoid this.
Always amazes me when I find that someone has parked right next to me, even though there are loads of other empty spaces all around. It's like they don't want their car to be lonely. The first door ding is a painful experience on a new car. I particularly avoid parking next to older cars or people carriers. Kids and people with no interest in cars are the worst offenders. |

My wife thinks that I am mental because I insist on using her Touran when I have to park anywhere else but home or at my work's car park. The only time I relaxed this rule some moron scuffed my bumper and left a 6 inch crease in it!

Same here. The one time I had to park in a multistorey at the airport when picking the Mrs up. Car was immaculate as never parked it anywhere but home and work. The one time I park up there and somebody uses my front bumper as a parking guide.. Complete bumper respray required.
The Chips Away/Revive guys can paint little sections of rubbed/chipped paint, but it's good enough for people who aren't that anal. If you care that much, you will probably see the difference in paint. |

I am a bit of a perfectionist so maybe I shouldn't go down this route.
Am I right in thinking that even if I had a door completely sprayed and blended in it may still be noticeable? Thinking back to stories I once parked an Enterprise rental car on a floor in a car park with no other cars on it, when I came back someone had scraped the back of it. Cost me £180 in charges from Enterprise! They wouldn't let me take it someone myself... |

NFS i cant agree more, there could be 10 spaces on either side of you but that battered white transit van will always park within 3 inches of your car door!!!!!
On the point about respraying a door, other people might not see it (my old peugeot had the bonnet resprayed) and everyone said it was a perfect match i always seemed to notice a slight colour difference, probably most in my head but it did my nut in!!! |

Where I live it's an offence payable with a fine if you park across two parking bays. But I guess this would not apply in a supermarket carpark, but to do so, particularly over the busy Christmas period, I would consider to be somewhat anti social and we don't fall into that category, do we now?
