winter wheels/tires packages???

Hi,

I should be picking up my e92 (sport, prem, cw) in a few days. However, the weather is starting to get cold, I know I really should be thinking about snow tires.

I checked tirerack.com and thy have nothing on their site, and calling them was no help either. The CSR said he doesnt think there will be anything ready until next summer.

Does anyone have any ideas/plans on what to do for winter driving? I have a set of 16" rims (R16225/55 - my dealer said 16" rims would fit, but the offset is different)from my 528 that i am trading in. Is there any way I may be able to use those with wheel spacers?

any help would be great. thanks in advance

I'm pretty sure the 16" wheels won't fit over the brakes on the E92.

At Tirerack, they had a winer tire and wheel package posted on their website for E92 that would fit base and sports package. It is not there now, but according to Gary at Tirerack, this is just a web problem and nothing else.(Gary host a Tires etc. forum at www.bimmerfest.com)

Anyways, the recommended package is Dunlop M3 DSST (runflats) 225/45/17 and ASA JH3 17" rims. Call the Tirerack and ask specially for Gary. Also, since you are in the US, in order for the Tire Pressure Monitor to work, you will need to order the sensors for each wheel - about $70.00 each installed. Lastly, don't forget to ask for the BMW stickers to put on the centre of the wheels.

Good Luck!

I ordered the Dunlops M3 runflats 225/45R17 and ASA JH3 wheels from tirerack last Thursday, they shipped Friday and I just have to see how long it takes to cross the border. Call Gary at extension 386 (he had my order all ready in less than 5 minutes) he'll throw in the bmw stickers (no center caps available anymore). Came to ~1100USD but for you guys in the states you might want the extra $286 TPMS sensors or have to put up with the warning light. I'm expecting to pay ~$1800CAD once shipping, tax, duty and brokerage is added but that is equal to the best Canadian sites (tiretrends or 1010tires).

Note: there are many other winter options and if you have a 328 you can use 16" tires (I think, aren't the standard wheels 16s??). Lots of options available so give Gary a call and he'll help you out.

Are those ASA rims BMW replicas? And you're supposed to put the BMW roundel sticker overtop the center caps?

The ASA JH3 is not a replica wheel, but it has been used for a couple of seasons now as very good winter wheel option for BMWs.

ASA makes very good quality wheels using technology that BBS shared with them during their partnership.

The BMW stickers that can be included (by asking for them when you order) are actually a semi-rigid adhesive logo rather than a paper-thin sticker. They stick over the ASA caps and leave a nice black border around the outside that looks very OE-like.

I'm thinking about going with the Dunlop M3 and ASA JH3 combo as well; but had a few questions.

If by chance the local shops (Belle Tire, Discount Tire) will not match the Tirerack price and I order them mounted/balanced from Tirerack; is there anything that needs to be adjusted when mounting them?
Basically is it as simple as jacking up the car and changing the wheels? Or do I need to have this done at a shop? If it is simply changing a tire, what jack/torque wrench is suggested?

Do the ASA J3 wheels bolt right on to a 335i sedan or do they require additional hardware?

Anyone?

Are these available? I just ordered the 16 inch ASA's with Dunlop M3's and was told that there were no stickers.

No additional hardware needed unless you include the sensors as hardware.

These list for $5 each. In stock. They are listed as 'logos' rather than stickers. I normally include them for forum guys. Unfortunately we are not a full sponsor of this site so I believe this means I cannot make commercial posts that include references the company I work for or my extention number. I'm working on getting us to become a sponsor so that I can provide more detailed posts and information. In the meantime I am the only Gary that works here so you could ask for me by name when calling in.

should be that simple =P

Sears has 3-ton floor jacks for $40 and a good torque wrench is about $75 or so.
