brake upgrade

I have an 03 Z4 2.5i. This is the first time I have to pay for brakes out of pocket. Any suggestions for a front and rear rotor/brake pad set up or brake kit besides OEM. I'm not looking for a BBK or to spend tooooooo much, but better than than the stock parts. Basically looking for cross drilled rotors and less dustier pads than stock. Any suggestions.

Thx in advance

What's so wrong with OEM parts? BMW brakes are one of the best brake systems on the market today, besting some of the best offerings available for a lot of other manufacturers. I've managed to out drive and out brake people with OEM Brembos on their WRX STis and Nissan 350Z Track edition with NOTHING but a set of pads. The OEM BMW brake is light years better than just about anything short of high end fixed caliper kits.

Heck you ought to see the look on guy in the 996 TTS' face when I rode and drafted his butt and late/out-braked him into Star Mazda at Buttonwillow to earn a pass in my, at the time, puny Z4 3.0i.

The OEM brakes aren't too bad, but I would rather spend the same amount (around $847 at a local indi shop) on some an after market performance brake set up. The stealer is charging $1060 for an OEM front/rear break replacement.

I'm considering a Stoptech/Axxis set up or a BavAuto set up.

With the 2.5l you could upgrade to the 3.0l bigger brakes. Not sure everything you need, but I think black sapphire did it. I was going to create a thread to find out everything needed to do it, or if there was anything needed outside of the carrier and caliper (besides the rotor and pads). If the Rotora stock kit comes with a new mounting equipment it might be a good buy? Maybe I will just jack this thread though?

front only

parts required(all from 330i or ci)
-rotors & pads
-carriers
-calipers

simple swap

330 brake is BIGGER than Z4 3.0 brakes!

Thanks BlackSapphire Z. I saw a thread you posted awhile back about some aftermarket breaks you purchased. Any additional comments/feedback about slotted or crossdrilled rotors and which pads? TIA

I'd be wary:

http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp...formance.shtml

"...and those poor cars end up with both bigger rotors and larger pistons which serve to drastically shift the bias even more forward. While rock-solid stable under braking, stopping distances will go up dramatically."

That's from Stoptech.
