16-17....ASTRA 1.4 (carburettor engine)...added a KNN Induction kit to it....and a Magnex exhaust...chav style big time...and I though that these "big" engine mods would give me an extra 50bhp....I learnt to master front wheel drive techniques and understeer with this badboy....

23-24....Peugeot 406...1.8 (Injection this time!) and about 112bhp....again...KNN Induction and exhaust, chav style ...and again, pushing the limits of a front wheel drive saloon and loads of understeer....and getting bullied by GTIs everytime....

28- now....335i....well....what can I say....experienced a great buttfcuk by BMW UK customer services....

The 1980's Ford Escort XR3i's, not that fast when you look back but relative to the times I suppose. Good fun though!

Funny how things move on. Back then those cars seemed expensive relative to income. Now look how much we're paying for our cars - mind you they are quality motors.

The car or the ex-wife Paul

My sis had an Astra 2.0 GTE which was quicker than my XR3i's but the Vauxhall gearbox wasn't a patch on the fluid Fords and I think the Ezzy was prettier. Happy days!

Always been car mad, as early as primary school days where I would take my matchbox cars apart and then 'mod' them by bending the axles to jack up the back ends and gluing extra wheels onto the side of the back ones so they were super wide at the back.

Then moved on to mod'ing my remote controlled car, taking it to pieces and respraying it!

I think 'The Professionals' on TV started my love of actual cars, watching them scream around in RS2000's and Capri's.

Not stopped since! I have owned about 30 cars, stripped and rebuilt a VW Bug, Stripped a Ford Sierra Saphire and made a Lotus 7 type kit car out of it, list goes on. Early cars were typical boy racer stuff, bolting on Cibies and adding tacky extras, then came the 'ICE' stage where every car would have to spend the first weekend of ownership being ripped apart to install amps, subs, components, head units, etc...

Now I am spoilt as I can afford to walk into a dealership and order the car largely how I want it, although the modding theme does not seem to have stopped

BOTH!!!

The Ash-tray was quick in a straight line but show it a bend and Jeez it was crap! I loved the old XR3i's. My mate had a white Y reg one (Mk3) and he thraped the living daylights out of it everywhere. The engine just seemed to get looser and quicker all the time. Ford gearboxes were always good. My best hot hatch that I owned was a Nova GTE with a Cavalier SRi 2.0i engine fitted to it. Used to hit the rev limiter in fifth gear!

How could I forget the Cosworths!! Always wanted an Escort Cozzy but the insurance for my age then was a killer. Never actually driven one either - wonder what they'd feel like now.

As for Cindy Crawford Roger - natural beauty imo.
