Unhappy 3 days with the car and I already need paintwork :(

This morning, I made a stupid mistake that will likely cost me a fairly good chunk of change. 3 days after buying the car, I swiped the giant concrete pillar next to my assigned parking spot Some dude just moved into my complex and was assigned the spot next to mine, and he has a giant lifted '95ish ford bronco. I've had to twist and contort my body to get out of the car since he moved in on friday because I can barely open my door. So this morning, he had parked a little closer to the white line and i decided to try and give myself a little more breathing room.

Stupid, bad move. I scraped my passenger door, handle and mirror on the pillar. The handle definitely needs replacing, I think the mirror can be sanded and repainted, and the door has a 1 ft wide by 2.5-3ft long scrape, that appears to have gone through the clear coat and maybe through one coat of paint, but not down to the metal. I was devastated nonetheless. The door looks like it can be sanded down and resprayed with no body work, but I'm assuming the body shop will want to blend it into the surrounding panels? I have no idea how much any of this will cost, I'm hoping not too much. Instead of getting my car detailed tomorrow, I'm taking it to a bmw certified body shop in Sac to get the damage assessed.

What a shitty day, I give my car a free custom paint job AND the niners lose. On a good note, I'll have my AE Quad exhaust soon.

Sorry to hear that. Anytime something like that happens to your car, it's just a shi*y feeling. GL on the repairs. At least she can be fixed Just try to find a very reputable body shop to do the repair. And, don't cut corners on this one.

I'm a Niners fine as well....growing up in San Francisco and all. At least CAL beat Stanford this weekend.

Sorry to hear that OP. Happens to the best of us.

Try to look on the bright side - this is an opportunity to upgrade. Look into some nice m3 side skirts and carbon fiber mirror covers.

I will once I get out of class. haha. The damage doesn't look bad at first sight, but the door is a little buckled in, and they have to blend into the rear passenger door and passenger fender. He told me he could cut me a deal and just do a panel match, but I'm not gonna go the cheap route. I want it done right.
