Tire insurance denied because of bubble
Hi all,
I purchased a five year tire warranty through my dealer when I purchased my vehicle. I went in for my first warranty claim because of a bubble from potholes and the claim has been denied. I am furious right now because when I purchased the warranty they said that damage from potholes would be covered. The tire warranty I have is safeguard. Can anyone help me with this issue? |

Stick a nail in it. I know its dishonest, but screw it, if they deny your claim when they should replace your tire, they are just as wrong .

The tire was replaced by the dealer on saturday at no charge. I got a call this morning saying that the tire warranty will not cover it and that now I need to pay for the repair out of pocket. I need some help in getting this claim approved.

Too late, you signed for it and left? If the work was done with the understanding it was to be done under warranty and they change their mind after you leave, they have no claim.

This honestly sounds like a bunch of BS from your dealer to me.
Tire warranty covers potholes/bent rims, last time I checked. ...I'd be arguing this one, especially if they replaced it and you signed off on the paperwork. Fight it, and I'd probably find another dealer.

Every dealer I asked about regarding tire warranty said that they themselves have nothing to do with it, but it's the 3rd party company that was sold to you.
Each dealer uses a different company (from what they told me) and I was advised to call the 3rd party myself (or go to the dealer where I bought my car because they would have a better understanding with that company). Too bad the closest dealer is only 5 miles away, where the one i bought the car from is more than 30.. (which I'll gladly go to if need be..) you're going to need to contact safeguard for this, not your dealer....

You should have received a copy of the exclusion list when you agreed to the coverage. I know, sometimes it's tough to locate, but if you have it take a look. If bubles from road damage are not excluded, they are included.

I'm glad I passed on the tire warranty. I would have had to have two flats in three years to make it worth it. I've only had one flat in the last ten years so I'll take my chances.

Update:
Called the SA this morning to inform her that I believed "bubbles" were the direct result of potholes in the road. To my surprise she informed me that the tire will be covered. The first claims adjuster she spoke with was an idiot. She talked to the service manager at my dealership and he agreed that it should be covered and called another claims adjuster who approved my claim. |

For future claims know that normally tires will not be replaced unless they are unable to sustain tire pressure. If they leak, they're covered. Same goes for ANY tire wheel you have on the car up to the value of the OEM wheels on the car at time of purchase. |

Actually my warranty has paid for itself. I have the 230 rims with 19" Bridgestone RFT's. Cost to replace one is $445. I have replaced 2 tires ($890) in one year and still have 4 years left on my tire warranty.
