any experience shipping wheels?

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone here has any experience shipping wheels? I plan on shipping out my 189s w/ RFTs and TPMS to someone, and was wondering if anyone could recommend any shipping companies?

Should I just stick with USPS, or am I missing some other options?

Thanks!

I'd would go UPS or Fed Ex and insure it for what they are worth (better tracking). USPS will almost for sure damage them

Which ever company you choose just make sure to package them adequately. Even when they get thrown around in the delivery process, having them packed properly would minimize the damage if any at all. I once worked at UPS for four years and know how things get treated.

FedEx ground and fully insured. You'll be looking close to $200 for shipping (depending on where they're going) with tires. For rims only about $100.

I just shipped 19" CSL's from Pittsburgh to Cali for 234.00 with all the packaging, all wheels were shipped seperate so there was no rubbing and had them stuffed for no movement at all. A lil Pricey but the buyer was satsified and there was no damage. UPS was my choice.

From our shipping experience, I would suggest using UPS or FedEX. But whichever company you plan to use, be sure to get insured and to package adequately in case anything happens during shipping. Tire Rack has a good guide on how to package the wheels/tires.

Mine went from SLC to NY. 4 separate boxes...4 wheels and tires...$200 for the shipping. The boxes and packing will cost another $25-50. Went with UPS ground.

Shipped last week from TX to Boston, a set of 16" Style 156 with RFT's and TPMS using Fedex ground/home Delivery. Took FedEx 4 business days to deliver and charged me about $170 for the whole set. Didn't box anything. Used cardboard flange protectors (I could get them for free at work) on both sides to protect the rims and then used Saran wrap and packing tape. Seems to have gotten there fine.

Another good option is Greyhound bus services. A lot of people forget they offer this service. You just have to pick them up at the local bus depot.

I've used Greyhound Express in Canada and can vouch for their services. I've sent a set of tires and a body kit through them. Best part is that you can do COD through them. You get a cheque in the mail when the buyer picks up the shipment.
