does anyone make upgraded HPFP's?

i keep seeing that everyone's HPFP's (this mean high pressure fuel pump correct?) keep going out. i would think someone would make an easy upgrade like in most other cars. has this not been done yet? how hard is it to replace your own fuel pump? there has to be some way to fix just replacing it with the same part.

Yeah, this would dodge a huge potential bullet. I'd put it on just so I didn't have to deal with the service advisor.

+1

The install process outlined by AMS is very good and it seems like a fairly simple job. The only thing that I would worry about is getting the proper torque on everything when you put it back together.

The pump is very simple to install. The pump is located in the engine bay. No dropping tanks for this. Testing is going great!!

I hope they really have found a pump that works with the high level of ethanol and wont have seals that get destroyed by it. That would be a worth while upgrade.

Does anyone know anything about how the N54's fuel system operates?

return vs. returnless?

is the pump pressure variable?

pump pressure controlled by the ecu?

It would be nice...this is prolly hopping for to much...if it was a return system controlled by a regualator...or a returnless (more likely) that holds a constant pressure or is very easily controlled. This would make it possible to simply replace it with a better unit only having to fabricate what is necessary to make it fit the tank...or failing in that drop it in a new fuel cell.

AMS should try and sell the design to bmw. Hopefully the install is an easy diy or comes with super detailed instructions.

Biggest issue will be price. Make a stock replacement at a decent price and people will be lining up. Give it a premium price and not as many will show. With a good price im buying day one! I hate thinking about being stranded. Save me AMS.

It's made by CP-E, not AMS.

CP-E then, thanks. Cheap, easy to diy, and there will be backorders for months. Everybody will be ordering one.
