Swirls from dealer wash
Ugh. I just went to a new dealer and got my car back washed with swirls BAD. And it's BSM I failed to ask them not to wash it not thinking and in a rush and now I'm saddled with getting them taken care of.
Soooo, since I don't have the tools or time necessary to do the work myself, does anyone know a good detailer in South Florida? I live in Fort Lauderdale so anything around here would be awesome. Thanks! |

Well, let's see.
"Lauderdale BMW", if anyone in the SoFL area on this forum hasn't read one of my long-winded rants on the insane level of greed in their sales, and the insane level of incompetence from the service dept at this dealership, you aren't a true 1Addict. NEVER go here! If you go to Lauderdale BMW, "caveat emptor". Let alone that their Sales Dept has said that the 1 Series is not worthy of FLL, which is why they have only about 5-6 on their lot. "Vista BMW", they were running ads for a while that they even admitted were misleading. They ran ads saying "Own, don't lease, for $___" and then gave a super low rate. When you walk in and ask, they tell you that "the ad was wrong" (they actually said that to me), it is a balloon payment , and that there were mileage restrictions. Um, that IS a lease. I have said it a million times, I will say it again, if you live in SoFL area, you go to Braman. I can even help you a bit with the right sales guy for a good price and their service dept is huge. Even if they run out of BMW loaners, they have brand new Honda Accords which aren't too bad for fleet vehicles. Go to Lauderdale BMW, you get stuck in a reeking-of-smoke rental car of a Kia or Suzuki. If you take your BMW to anywhere but Braman, don't expect any sympathy from me. Sorry to be so harsh, but sometimes in life you have to be. I will just offer that if you got the swirlies from Lauderdale BMW, then go talk to Matt Bittman and push him hard. You "might" have a chance. Other than that, nope.

I sent you a PM. I will never give my car to a dealership to wash or detail.

Try some of the detailing clays and associated clay bar lubricants. You can find these products at most automotive stores in the section where they sell car waxes, etc. I've used Meguair's detailing clay and associated lube on my 2009 135i couple and my 99 528i. The stuff works great. Wax it after the clay job and you'll be proud of the outcome. If you go that route, let know how it works out.

It wasn't Ft Lauderdale. It was Vista out west. And I never let dealerships wash the car, I just spaced on it. My own dumb fault. Granted they shouldn't be running cars through those washes using wires bristled brushes, but whatever. Most people don't care, otherwise it would be different. The service was great otherwise. More than helpful and always in contact with every aspect of the repair. More than I can say for Ft Lauderdale. They are MISERABLE people there. The Mini dept at Lauderdale is great though.
As for the detailing, I has bought a full Zaino getup, I'm just completely lacking the time right now to do anything. My fiance and I are planning a wedding, and things are just crazy at the moment. Once it settles down some then I can get back to doing this type of stuff myself, but for now I'll support a forum member. |

Never heard of Zaino so I checked out their website. Think I'm gonna order some stuff. I've been using Meguairs and have been satisfied with the results. But I want to try something different from someone who still is in 'touch' with their product.

Which Braman you go to? I use to buy car from Lauderdale BMW and service there but my 1 are order from out of state thru ED and PCD... NO DEALER FEE!! Unlike Dealer in Florida with $600 Fees and crazy Markup. Does Braman give you loaner even if you don't bought the car from them?

Dom (scheerspeed) did detailing for awhile and his work was quite impressive. Send him a PM and see what he can do for you.

Braman BMW is downtown Miami, on Biscayne Blvd. It is the combo of BMW/Mini/Ferrari/Bugatti/Cadillac. They have a monstrous new Service Dept, they have plenty of 1's on hand, and it has been a great experience there.
Yes, Braman gives a loaner no matter what. They are so big, they have their own internal "rental car" company. If you are under warranty, they are free (hence, loaner). If you are out of warranty, you pay. Simple. They have either BMW's or brand new Honda Accords.

Meguiars is carnuaba based, which is uneven in coating, hard to put on, hard to buff off, and doesn't last long. There are silicone waxes, but you should never use them as they cause your paint to separate from the car and peel off. If Zaino is too expensive, ($150 for base kit), then you can use what I use, called "Liquid Glass". It is polymer based as well, only $20 per can in most stores, and I have used it for 8 years and it is awesome. Easy on, easy to buff off, fantastic shine.
