Lovely Winter approaching
Well as we all know, the awesome winter is approaching. I am starting this thread to see how are you guys preparing your vehicles for the winter if you are going to drive them. This will be my first winter driving my 325i. I heard many people say the car wont go anywhere with some heavy snow. Where I am at (troy, MI) we get a fair amount but nothing like michigan U.P. What do you guys have to recommend?
Thanks

I recommend some snow tires!!
I myself have an xi and still purchasing a dedicated set of winter wheels/tires. I don't think my runflats will fair well this winter. |

I live in Canton and drove a E90 330i on the OEM all season RFT's for 3 years without any issues. Granted, my wife had an X3 for and serious occasions. Plus I only have less than a 7 mile commute to work. Now, I'm driving a different RWD car and getting dedicated snows. If you're on all seasons and have a short drive / options, you'll be fine. If you have a long commute and need transportation even in the worst of conditions around here, get snows.

Get some snows just to be safe. YOU DRIVE A BMW, get some tires that will help you keep it driving the way it was meant to be driven for more than 6-7 months out of the year. The winter tires do wonders.

With snows the car will be fine. I drive a 330i with Blizzak LM-25s and it's actually the best winter car I've ever had - between the snows and DSC/DTC the car handles great in the snow.

Besides tires, you should also prepare your car for winter with a good paint sealant. I also plan to try that ONR car wash stuff for winter washing to keep the salt from building up on my car.

Just wondering if anyone has had TMPS go off yesterday? It got a little bit colder in Chicago yesterday and all 4 of my tires were supposedly low. I checked all four and they were at 30-32 PSI.
This was an ongoing issue last year as well and it is pretty annoying. |

yeah at 30psi it goes off. Try using Nitrogen to fill it up... you don't get as much flux in psi when it goes from hot/cold

Im in the same position as you OP, first time experiencing midwest winters (Wisconsin) with the 06 325i.
Purchased a set of Blizzak WS60s today. Apparently theres supposed to be snow showers in the morning tomorrow??? Accuweather sucks. |

if i remember correctly, it's suppose to be 32 front 33 rear, for speeds under 100 mph.
then something like 39/40 for speeds above 100 mph, there is also a slight +1/-1 variation for Xi and i |

also depends on your tire/rim size... 19's with almost no sidewall should run a little higher is what I was told
