i went with the one of the whole car for now. some of them won't work like the 1st one and the last one for example because they can't be cropped that great.

i dont mean to be rude or anything but i have seen you refer to "macro" alot and just for the record.. "Macro photography is a type of close-up photography. The classical definition is photography in which the image on film or electronic sensor is as large or larger than the subject." --wikipedia
macro setting does not necessarily equal macro photography... but either way nice photos, thanks as always for sharing edit: just though about the scaling factor going from your 5mp or whaver down to a shareable size. so maybe they are macros in their original size... but either way, considering an sd500, you need to be about 3.5-10cm away from the object to get a 1:1 magnification or more. just wanted to add that : P Last edited by jadeddjay; 09-22-2006 at 10:07 PM.. |

Nikki, I thought I recall you saying that you don't have a SLR. Yet your photos look so nice. Are you touching these up with photoshop, and if so, what are you doing?

as far as defining macro, you're saying i am not close enough to call it macro? all i know is i stand near something and put the macro flower button on and it focuses on whatever is closest to me.

well basically, in macro photography, you want the image/object[on the sensor] size to be 1/1 or greater which means that you have to be at your focal length or closer. so if you have it zoomed all the way out, presumably around 35mm, then that means that in order to have an image atleast the same size as the object, then you have to be most 35mm away from the object. the closer you get to the object, the greater magnification. technically i am not sure if these elphs can really do macro but with the digital zooming etc... it can be simulated? sigh: i should have kept my mouth shut when i really dont know that much about what i am talking about lol its all technical gibberish that doesnt help your pictures look any better than they already are |
