Exclamation The Next Skyline Run

Video of the last Skyline Drive is up! http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=306163

So we could do another drive or do a track day, what do you think?

Skyline drive is going to get very busy once the leaves start changing so we need to keep that in mind when picking where to drive and when.

As for the track, the only thing I can think of is we all sign up for a Summit Point Friday at the Track (FATT) http://www.summitpointfatt.com/
Note that those are only on Fridays.

The BMW CCA has an Autocross on the Saturday the 24th in Bowie, MD. Those are always awesome. $25 for CCA members and $35 for non-members. www.nccautocross.com I'll be there either way

My M is still fairly new at 2300mils on the odo so I'm leery about taking it on the track yet. So I voted for another backyard burner

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum, new to my M3 too. I read the post about the last Skyline run, and it looked awesome. I've done drives in that area before and absolutely love it.

I'd definitely be in for the next one. I hope it's alright to bring an e46 to the party :-)

hey pare... i sold my Vanguard exhaust and installed the exhaust back on. But before I did, I painted it matte black like azzuro/marco. I used VHT paint that goes up to 2000deg. You can check it out the next ride.

Ase2dais,

Unfortunately I did not take any pictures when I painted the muffler. It was a spur of the moment kind of thing.

I used one can of Dupli-Color high heat paint (is suppose to resist temperatures up to 500 degrees. I doubt the muffle is ever going to reach that kind of temperature), a roll of blue tape and some steel wool. The following are the steps I took to get it done.

Take the muffler out of the car. Not an easy task if you do it yourself, especially when you put it back.
Clean it with the steel wool and then rinse it out.
Dry it well and make sure there are no wet spots before painting.
Give it at least a couple of coats and then let it dry for thirty minutes or more
Put it back and you are done.

I painted mine around seven months ago and it still looks like I just painted it.

I hope this helps.

What's up darwin316?

How come you sold the Vanguard?

Painting the muffler makes it look a lot better, doesn’t it?

Hey man... I had to sell the exhaust because the wife didn't appreciate the sound of an aftermarket exhaust

Yeah, painting the muffler really does hide the bulge underneath the car... but I am already starting to miss the sound of the Vanguard. It was very aggressive. Oh well...

Get an eisenmann sport...it isn't so loud from what I understand.

Yup, staying tuned to this thread...a sunday would work with me too...any planned stops midway through the trip for lunch, etc?

Yeah, i might be able to go with an eisenmann sport eventually but i'm on strict orders for now not to touch the exhaust system But I can do whatever else I like to the car so I will probably go with springs, lips, wheels, etc.

we had pizza for lunch the last time around...

i'm down for either saturday or sunday too

Do the x-pipe with highflow cats and the mechanical in-line valve! Quiet when she is in the car, loud when she isn't!

I'm also proposing that we do a quick lunch this time. Burgers or something fast. More time on the road

I agree... even though the pizza was great, I would prefer to have more time on the road.
