A fond fairwell .....
to the Porka. Not an easy decision as it's the best car I've owned and one I would most certainly own again, but other projects require attention and money unfortunately (the house as may move). So after 7 months, 10k miles and a truly memorable blast across Europe she's now gone.
On a more positive note I've bought this as a stop gap until the RS5 is launched (hopefully!) Just been detailed btw: Phantom black pearl effect, Piano black inlay Auto dimming rear view mirror, Bang and Olufsen speakers Black gloss grille, Bluetooth Comfort access, 6 CD Electric folding mirrors, Heated seats Leather, Parking sensors front & rear Sat nav, Sliding armrest Storage pack, Tinted windows Voice control So there you have it guys. Can't compare the S5 to the Porsche as well, pretty obvious why really! But pleased with the car tbh and the deal. It had the worst case of gravel rash on the front end I've ever seen so bonnet, front bumper and wings all new paint, two stone chips in the windscreen so they replaced that. The wheels had been painted black by the factory as you can specify this as per the grille and Audi will do it. To say the car looked pimp my ride is an understatement lol. Did a deal on some OEM 19" alloys and tyres of my choice (Pirelli P Zero Rossos) for £1k, they serviced it as well after a bit of haggling as the OBC said 7k until next service, mats were missing so they were replaced. Also got an extended warranty. So all in all pleased with the service received from Grimsby Audi. Had to take the car back on Saturday as the passenger door wouldn't unlock using either comfort access or the remote key fob. Turns out their technicians work Saturdays and the RS specialist sales guy there immediately got the car in the workshop and a technician working on it (he wasn't pleased the car had gone out like that!). He asked me if I fancied a 'play' in their demo RS6 saloon so I obliged as it would have been rude not to eh. Very nice car!! Love that Lambo engine and they've got the suspension settings spot on imo when you want to play seriously, virtually no body roll on a 2 ton + car. That passed the time nicely whilst the S5 was fixed! |

Helen, least you have had a turbo. Cracking car they are, You can always get one again in the future when fundage allows. (You been there done that etc lol)
The S5 looks gorgeous. They do look lovely in the flesh and have alot of road presence. I like the look of these things. How many miles on her and what month/year was she registered? Ive raced a few at the pod, With a good driver they Launch well for a 1700+KG car.

Blimey - that's not a bad stopgap car!! Looks very nice - I do think the A5/S5 just have the edge over the E92 looks wise. Lovely seats too.
Any info on the imminent RS5 then? They only run one model at a time so guess the TT RS production run has to be ended first. |

Late 2007 with 31k, was the highest mileage but by far the best engine if you know what I mean. Belonged to a premiership footballer, Aston Villa player who must have had a gravel drive or something! but he's driven it properly by the feel of the engine. Going to have her re-mapped as well. Quote:

Hi Paul. Well........thought it would be easier trading an Audi for an Audi and I really like 4WD tbh since having the Porka T, yeah I realise the Audi system is not as sophisticated as the Porsche but the S5 does grip very well for it's wheel base and weight. Engine has quite a bit of torque as well which I also like. Sounds very nice have to say, got a real rumble to it on tick-over and at low speeds. |

Good that the engine has been run-in well ahem and is a good one. There are some differences in the engines (seems like you already know this) Looking forward to seeing it next weekend!

Helen
Just noticed this thread (was a bit asleep when I read your post on my thread lamenting the departure of the 335i!!! - your comment now makes even more sense LOL). I love the S5 - alays have but I was able to negotiate a much better deal on the BMW when I bought my 335 than I could get on the S5 as they were just out. Your one looks the business though - I love black cars (most of mine over the years have been black and the A4 Avant on order is black too!). I always think a change is quite nice and, in your case, it is hard to move to a 'better' car when you are moving from a 997 Turbo! We can shortly have a little Audi corner of e90post for yourself, myself, Biscuits and the mad manc StevieA!! (prob a few others too - apologies if I have left anyone out!) John

When I opened your thread I could only see a top slice of the first photo and read the text first - which doesn't mention the car make.
After reading the bit about needing funds I was expecting to scroll down and see something a bit out of the ordinary but also - well... inexpensive. I nearly spilt my coffee over my keyboard... a STOP-GAP! That's a stop-gap? It looks bleedin gorgeous and your detailer has had a good time producing that result. Since the A5 was on my list when I got the BM, I would love to pour over it next week if that's all right. I promise I won't drool. |

To follow on from AlanQS...when I sold the M6 a month ago and thought I wasn't getting my C63 until the end of this month, I also bought a stop-gap car.
An '02 Renault Laguna that cost me £1500. A fecking Renault Laguna! Helen - you've got an awesome stop gap car...I'm sure you'll have more fun in it than the 3 weeks I spent in my Laguna. |

Lovely stop-gap. They always look very classy. Especially the interior.
Like the stainless steel effect wing mirrors ... guessing they aren't cold to the touch though D.

NOOOOOOOOOOO Helen!!!!! Can't believe to mighty Turbo has gone!!
The S5 Looks the dogs (even for an Audi) please don't drive it like an Audi though Seriously though the S5 is a brilliant car and black is its best colour tbh, I wouldn't mind a blast in a RS6 Enjoy your new Car |
