Private Registration Numbers

hi guys,

so i bought mine a few days ago and wondered if anyone can clear some questions i have.

1. as i understand, when i get the certificate of ownership i need to take that to my nearest dvla office along with the V5....can someone tell me what other documents do i require?
2. once i have taken all those docs to dvla office can i then immediately put the new plates on my car or do i need to wait until my V5 gets back with new reg number?

thanks

you can put it on right away. V5 follows usually in a couple of days.

You need your MOT if you have one and your tax disc.

if you don't have a tax disc you need the forms to get a tax disc plus insurance details also as you need insurance to tax the car.

its a very simple process. If you goto the DVLA one word of advice go first thing in the morning and avoid the queues.

where is your name from as I just wondered if it was from a car or racing powerboat v24 and you had a race coming up soon?
from memory you can put the plate on straight away if you go in person to dvla office but have to surrender tax disc or send on in envelope they provide if done by post
