This is a serious question.

Why did bmw make the 3 series coupe taillights same as the 7 series taillights?

Isn't that.. a bit wrong? I mean has anyone ever done that before? Taking the company's flagship car taillight and stuck it into a lower class coupe(not even a sedan)???

I mean 3 series coupe looks pretty good with it, but I just can't think of why.
BMW ran out of ideas? decided to play safe? what happened?

I honestly think the 3 series coupe will look even more "fresh" as a new car if it had different taillights(design that didn't share with anything else in the line up). No, hell no, not the E90 taillights.

Well as far improving over E90's taillights, yes, im happy about that..
but any not starting from a scratch and come out with a fresh new design? Too risky? couldn't trust bangle?

The serious question is -- when did you check your eyes last time???
The tail lights are similar, but definitely NOT the same!
Why don't you complain about the kidney grilles on the Coupe that 7er already has???

I think the E92 tails are a ton better looking then the E90s so I'm happy with it.

When compare to the stock ones , yes, but not compared to the blacklines. Maybe they will come out with blacklines for the coupe as well, who knows.

when I first saw pictures of the e92 I was like nahhh the e90 is better. But I saw 2 on the streets already and now I'm depressed, the couple rocks from every angle, I want one now.

I didn't like em until I saw it in person. Now I think they're stunning.

Old model A4 had similar taillights to A8. A4 is a sedan tho.

the grille on the 7 is not like the E92, I would compare the E92's grille to the 5 series

I actually don't love the E92's tail. I prefer the E90's. It certainly won't get confused for anything else.. and that's a good thing in my book. Luxury (and near-luxury) cars are starting to get too similar.

Kidney grilles on the coupe that 7er already has.. hmm. Worst comparison I've ever heard in years.

If you don't think these two tailiights don't look nearly identical,

then, you need to visit this thread.

Similar -- yes, nearly identical, hell no.
It is a Bimmer after all, why not having similar things...

Look at the Lexus -- take one model strech it and call it GS, shrink it -- call it an IS...

obvioulsy, if you want to be anal retentive about it, no two models are identical, they have different dimensions and all, but the tails on the 3 coupe and the 7 series are dead ringers.

I believe other car companies do this all the time, like Audi and Lexus, etc. but you are right BMW has always been known to have a distinct style for it's 3, 5, and 7 at least more so than other brands. I think it looks fine, but they could have come out with something a little more unique. Perhaps they wanted to stick with a good thing, since the 7 series is the only newly designed car that hasn't been criticized in the rear, unlike the 5 and the 3 sedan.
