E92 owners...which variant do you have.

As per the title really, which variant of the E92 do you have. Just doing a little research I guess. I'm thinking about a purchase in the coming months and have had my eye on the 335d but it seems they're pretty rare (buying nearly new).

I will be interested to see the results.

Yeah I just realised that!! My mistake, I was just noting down the variants shown in the BMW search options under 06 onwards 3-Series coupe! My fault for not checking!

Officially launched in sept 2006 the coupe, hence only a handful of ex demo/press 06 plated coupes.

Why did you go SE and not M-Sport?

Also, surely "E92" already denotes coupe without having to be explicit? I thought the codes were as follows:

E90 - Saloon
E91 - Touring
E92 - Coupe
E93 - Convertible

Yes your right, i did it because some numpties will just vote anyhow, they need to have it explained. (Usually me lol)

SE 335, is the same car as the 335 Msport bar plastic trim and also interior bits. (SE 335 has sports seats suspension etc.)

I went SE as the car was a great car + great spec and i had known the car from brand new and had also driven it from new myself ( i bought 9 months old)

So on the 335d, the only difference between the SE and M-Sport is the trim? Mechanically the cars are identical?

Yes 100%

I actually prefer the SE rear bumper more as it shows off the twin exits really well, the fake diffusered Msport one detracts from the twin pipes.

Front end the Msport looks more aggressive. Overall i think with the right rims thr SE looks very classy.

Also SE does come with what are arguably the best rim choice also (19" 230's)

Hrm, I had my heart set on the M-Sport variant but if what you're saying is true then my mind could be changed. Which variants are mechanically identical between SE and M-Sport? I assume it's just the higher end models and the ones lower down (say 320d/i) actually do have some differences in the suspension/seats etc?

Yes mate, only SE to share important parts is the 335.

What engine are you after.

35d ideally...but I will have to see closer to purchasing time (i.e. depending on funds).

EDIT:

Whatever I go for, it has to be 6-pot.

I chose the SE over the M, as I didn't think that the additions warranted the extra price in the 35d variant. I also prefer the M front and SE rear, so put the aero splitter on (which looks heaps better). I really don't like the look of the diffuser and would colour code it if I went for a M in the future

I concur. The M-sport front is more aggressive looking but the oem front aerolip for the SE re-dresses the balance completely. The black/grey plastic bit on the back of the m-sport spoils the m-sport back end on all but black cars - on which you hardly notice it anyway.

The m-sport has side skirts as well but they are so small that most people rarely notice them!

As Carl has said, an SE 335 has the same major features as a M-sport (suspension and seats) so the extra cash for the m-sport version is a complete and total rip-off.

And the 189s and 230s available with the SE are the best looking standard choice wheels.

<not biased... honest! >

Are the 230s what you both have on your cars (from looking at the pictures in your sigs)?

If so I agree, those wheels are really nice.
