X3 3.0sd MSport
Hi guys,
I know this is an e90 forum, but we all know stuff about other cars. Has the X3 had any updates over the years, like ED? iDrive? Gearboxes? Looking at a Sept 2006 X3 3.0sd MSport (twin turbo version) as a replacement to the X6 for a while. Cheers Paul |

It's a very strange car, I only like it in Space Grey MSport 3.0d or 3.0sd guise...
Should go well, get the kids and seats in when I have them, be OKAY on fuel and not bankrupt me... |

Nothing at all wrong with it, in fact I'm totally smitten... but a change in personal circumstance means I need to liquidate a number of assets/liabilities...
Hence: UK Classifieds Will be back on my feet in a year or two, depending how much of a ass whooping I get... |

I know very little about X3's (or anything else ), but I know from a freind that they do benefit extremely well from a remap.
Enough clues in your posts Paul too take a guess at what's happening, so best of luck with everything, hopefully you'll come away with more than a few shirts .

Sorry to hear your going through a tough time Paul, explains all the facebook posts about hitting the bottle! Hope things improve for you soon mate.
Back on topic I've never liked the X3, the early models with big black plastic bumpers looked horrible. An M-Sport in grey would be better though. Do you need a 4x4?

I do take the car off road (farmer fields) nothing too serious, but the extra ground clearance is useful... the X6 has been superb. It isn't that often, only at weekends flying my heli... if it's dry then a 'normal' car would be ok, if wet you need 4x4. Other cars I'm looking at are 123d and 135i........ obviously, trying to keep a sensible head on... or R32 or Golf GTi Ed30 |

I feel like I know the X3 inside out as I've been keeping my eye on them for the last 6-12 months waiting for a 'too-good-to-say-no-to' car & deal to come around. I think I was looking at the one you've pictured yesterday (don't worry, I'm not ready to jump yet). Space Grey is the colour of choice but plain old Silver or Black are close seconds.
As long as it's got 'x drive' in the title it's the latest version I think. The early ones didn't have this. Very few changes, if any, over the years apart from this. I've been looking for an 3.0d or 3.0sd (as they call it) but it needs to be heavily laden with options for me (or should I say the wife) to jump from the 330d earlier than planned. Both these engines are in the same tax bracket and advertise the same mpg - no brainer if you can get a 3.0sd as it's a full second quicker to 60 (but then again I think the 3.0d is hardly considered a downgrade). The SE version just looks shite with the black bumpers so an M Sport is a must (a black SE isn't too bad though). Some M Sport's have had the 'sports suspension' deleted which is an interesting option as you get the good looks (an X3!!!) with a less teeth shattering ride. Have you considered a new shape X5??? If you can find a 'black' SE (M Sport still being pricey) they are around £30k now but many more are highly specced than X3's are. As you say though it depends on how far you wanna stretch your budget or not. The new X3 is planned for 2011 which will obviously hit residuals, not that it should put you off, but worth bearing in mind. It goes without saying that I hope things get back to normal for you soon.
