DINAN NON-Rebate?

DINAN exhaust guys (or any DINAN rebate people)... how long did it take to get your Rebate..?

I sent mine in May 15th.. and still nothing..

Ive sent emails and they replied they said they got it... And processing it... that was June 28th....

Pretty annoying waiting this long for my money.. A rebate is a pretty simple thing to do.. Would take 5 min of their time to do...

I am in a similar situation (mailed the form in May). I emailed them recently. They responded promptly with the following. It sounds like we should get the checks soon. I think the rebate form said something like, allow 12 weeks for processing. I don't have it with me so I don't remember the exact language, but if it says 12 weeks, this is fine as long as the check shows up within the next 10 days or so...

"Thank you for your inquiry. We have your submission and it has gone through the process. We are currently cutting checks and are working diligently to get them all out. There was an overwhelming response to this offer and we are trying to get them done as fast as possible. You should be seeing your check shortly."

Hope you guys get your $ soon. As the controller of the co. I work for I know it shouldn't take anywhere near this long to process a rebate check. Total BS IMO....

Mine went in at the beginning of May I waited 12 weeks, then they told me they were "processing" it. Three more weeks and they say "soon". I'll bet it is that they are having cash flow problems like many companies. Hope they don't go banko.

seems like a more plausible explanation (ie. cash flow issues) to me....

Well letting a whole bunch of Rebates add up is definitely a way to get yourself in trouble...

With all these rebates not out yet.. i bet they are sitting on a chunk that could hurt when they send them all out..

IF.. they ever send them out...

Too much to lose for Dinan by not honoring the rebates, so I bet they will send the checks eventually as long as they are in business. The question is how cash starved are they exactly I guess...

Is there anyone on this forum who got a rebate check?

End of the month and still no check. It's now been 14 weeks since I sent in the form. I am not a lawyer, but are there any semi-formal legal steps we can take such as filing formal complaints with an agency?

Not worth it, IMO. I'm giving them another couple days (2 weeks from their last response to me), and trying again. I am going to link to this thread and point out how their reputation is being tarnished.

Sounds like liquidity issues at Dinan. They were looking to publicly list themselves recently and they should be flush with cash once the issue closes. I don't know where they are in the process, but you can look at the prospectus to see.

I like the title you used in your posts. I think we should change the title of the thread to "Dinan Non-Rebate" if KINGLEH does not mind.

Moving into the 16th week. Still no rebate check...

Way to lose a potential repeat customer DINAN.

Email received 9/7:
"Mr. Williams,

We are sorry that you are upset but to date, 1729 people have received their rebates. We apologize for our delay but according to the system your check, #33956 for $134.85 was sent on August 31st. Please confirm receipt of your check.

DINAN Rebates"

Yesterday was 11 days since the check was supposedly mailed and it hasn't made it from CA to OR.

Devil's Advocate checking in:

I can understand your frustrations guys, but this can't be the first time you have done a mail in rebate? I have done rebates for cameras, electronics, computers/ computer parts, even Glidden house paint and it was my experience that sometimes it took over 6 months before I saw my money. I don't think it is out of the ordinary for a rebate to take 4-5 months or more in some cases. JMO

Well, the form said allow 12 weeks, which I did before inquiring.

If that's the case, that is a different story.... I bought all my Dinan parts after the rebate offer but also after they did a price reduction so I did not have to deal with it.

Edit: I did a quick search and found a pdf. still floating around. It says 12 weeks from the time they recieve it and 'verify' the claim. If they were flooded with a couple thousand rebate form, it could take them weeks to prcocess. So I think if it goes over 4 months and close to 5 months that Dinan may need to speed things up a bit.

Nah, it is not OK to use such ambiguous language to stretch the processing of a simple rebate claim into the 4-5 month range, which is where we are now (Greg sent his form at the beginning of May). Michelin processed my rebate claim and mailed me a VISA cash card within 4-5 weeks. I've never had a rebate experience as drawn out as the DINAN one. They either have a really sloppy accounting department or are sitting on the cash because of liquidity issues.

Or both. Personally, I'd send a demand letter threatening legal action if no response is received within 1 week.
