Illinois BMW Dealership
Hi guys,
So I wanted to start this thread to just give people heads up and a place to look before posting about specifice dealership that are either mod friendly and are willing to work with you on fixes (i.e lifter knocking etc) I hope I am not stepping on any moderators feet or anything, but I had started this same sort of thread on past boards with my old car and thought it would be useful. So basically if you have experience with any Chicagoland or other Great lake area dealership please post so we can have less new threads started about whether or not a dealership will work on your car with mods and just an overall idea of a place to take your car. Dealership: Knauz BMW Location: 407 Skokie Valley Hwy. Lake Bluff, IL 60044 Tech to talk to: Gus, he is a great guy to work with, he helped me out a great deal, he even pointed me to a dealership that would work on lifter knock when he knew that his SA wouldn't want to touch my car Mod Friendly: Yes |

Laurel of Westmont
430 East Ogden Avenue, Westmont, Illinois (866) 484-0136 Excellent SA's there, Andre being one of them. Super friendly and not much hassle. Mod Friendly and a lot of the guys will even ask you specifics about what you've done to the car and talk shop with you. If only their sales team was this good.... |

+1 already for Andre at Laurel BMW. I chose him based on what you all have said. Havent taken the car in yet but he made sure I got taken care of right away and called back instantly. I had a long list of little crap wrong with my car and honestly felt like a nit picky ass. But he was like "if it isnt right dont worry about it well take care of it".
Now as for Bill Jacobs. I used to take my car there. My first experience wasnt great, but not bad, wasnt fond of the SA that I initially delt with. Then I took it in again and found what I thought to be a GREAT SA. Took care of me, and a great guy to deal with. I even tipped him the 2 times I was there. (20 bucks, then 10). However now I have called hime 3 times and he has not returned my calls in 3 weeks!!!!! I have called the main number to make sure he wasnt on vacation and he hasnt been..Totally unacceptable.. |

Ill be honest I am not a huge fan of Bill Jacobs in Naperville for the reasons stated above. Also their sales team sucked when I was in Iraq I couldnt get them to respond to me about purchasing a car. Knaus got back to me right away and was on top of their game. Very impressed with Knaus. I dealt with Eduard Moes AWESOME GUY! I ended up doing a military purchase and Ed got no credit/commission for the sale. But they took delivery of the car and he made sure everything was taken care of..Really went out of his way to help me and got NOTHING in return. He is also a BMW fanatic, has a BMW website of his own and owns something like 4 or 5 BMWs.

Independant shops?
Hi everyone,
I've been in Chicago for about a year and a half and had my E90 328Xi for 3 weeks. It's an '07 and I bought it from a wholesaler. I have no idea what service has been done to it over the last 53,000 miles. I do know that the car says it's 1300 miles overdue for an oil change. A few years back I owned my own shop and had access to lifts and parts and tools and everything else needed. I now live in an apartment with none of the above. I have a slight aversion to dealerships and am wondering if there are any independant shops that you would feel comfortable recommending? I live in Bronzeville so something on the south side would be preferred. As much as I would like to do the work myself it's just not possible at this time and I hate leaving my car with anyone that's just someone so any assistance I can get would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Roy |

Hey Roy,
You could always just go order some BMW LL04 oil and take it to a Jiffy Lube. I know most of the dealerships sell it or else you can get some from Tischer BMW (a vendor on the site) as the won't try to charge you an arm and a leg for it. |

Thanks for the idea...I didn't realize I could bring my own oil and filter to Jiffy Lube.
