Is it possible I have marbles in the Exhaust????

Hey Guys!

First of all I just want to say thanks to all of you for your contributions and postings as I have learned alot in the last few weeks. I bought my 335i about 2 months ago.

My car had the IPS (Integration Plant Service) E89X-08-03-520. I jotted this down since from past experiences I do not trust the stealerships. Software upgraded to CAS (currently available software) but did not say which version by dealership. I picked up my car too late and the SA was already leaving (I was just glad to have it back)!!! Car does respond better at lower RPM and I can hear the turbos spooling slighlty higher from the upgrade. I did notice an increase in the Exhaust sound. So why am i writing???

Because now I have a clanking sound (which I only had when I turned the car off prior to the SW upgrade) but now it eems to sound when the car is on and at idle. Angry as Hell!!!! My car is an 06/08 build which from what i read should have the correct actuator rods or improved/redesigned...whatever. So why do I now have this clanking noise like if marbles were inside the Exhaust system???????????

Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Yes I have read about the wastegate rattle in the 29.2 lag thread. The sound I hear is as if you dropped a marble onto a metal surface about every 5-10 second. It happens when I turn the car off or at idle.

The rattle described as part of the wastegates can be heard while driving 2-4k rpm.

Its like the sound some engines make when the car is brand new and you turn it off. Small clanking sound every 5-10 seconds.

Any hints?

one thing to consider is the honeycomb material that is inside your cats.
If this breaks off it will rattle around in your exhaust system.

Well this could be somethin to look at. I'll have to take it back in to have them check the cat's to see if it has been damaged. I guess the fact that the sound is not a consistent clanking is what has me wondering...

And I have run the car to make sure I dont hear any continued rattling...and nothing.
