BMW brakes are good. But a BBK would be better. Brembo and Stop Tech are about equal. so it really just comes down to preference.

Most of us use the e90 for commuting 99% of the time unless some dudes have so much money. It's not worth. I'll consider it when my factory maintenance program expires.

I'm doing track days and autocrosses and the only time I've had the brakes fade is at the end of a session on a track day. Autocrosses give the brakes plenty of time to cool. This is of course, at my current pace. If I start getting whole lot faster and using more brake, I might think about it, but it's a huge amount of money to spend when you're not really racing anyone.

I recently sold my modified 2005 Subaru WRX Prodrive which had a 4-piston Stoptech big brake kit fitted. I now have a rather excellent 320Si (which has 120 Horsepower less - but is just as much fun!!! And not much slower around the 'ring!!!! )
With the WRX I did about 30K Miles with about 3K miles worth of track driving including Zolder in Belgium, Nürburgring in Germany and Croft in the UK. I chose the Stoptech kit because the design of the caliper incorporates bracing which stiffens them. On repeated big hard stops (at places like the Nurburgring) this stops deformation of the caliper which is one contributor to a squishy brake peddle (the other being too hot brake fluid). I'd recommend them, but as with any braking system upgrade I'd choose the pads carefully. If you choose a very aggressive pad, then you only get great braking when the system is pretty hot. If you choose a street pad, the brakes will feel great off the track, but on the track you will exceed the temperature envelop pretty quickly and even within a few laps damage the rotors beyond repair. Ive driven my friends audi s4 (b5) with stoptechs and they are awsome brakes. However, the only reason i can think of as why you would need them over the stock brakes is brake fade or show. The stock brakes are good enough, you wont see that big of an improvement unless you are on the track.

my buddy has stoptech on his m3 and my m3 with teh competition package cross drilled brakes stoppes just as fast but on the track because of the larger rotor and caliper he has a minimal braking diffrence when the brakes get hott. So id just stick with stock or just get them for the hell of having the best braking system. i mean you dont have to track your car to have them but thats prob where you will notice it the most.

If you are serious about tracking, modding, or showing, a BBK is a must. For street driving, it's completely frivolous. But if you want to build a track machine or a show stopper you can't go without a BBK.
We recommend only Brembo for a few reasons: -Only BREMBO is OEM for Lamborghini, Porsche, Mercedes, Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Ford GT, McLaren SLR... you get the idea. Brembo is the choice of auto manufacturers -Only BREMBO has unrivaled years of experience on and off the track -Only BREMBO is known in the industry for the best brakes, period. We can give you a great deal on the new brembo 6 piston monoblock system (which outperforms any 8piston kit on the market, including the older model brembos!) or we can show you some more affordable systems. Contact us via PM Phone or Email and we'll talk Brembo JL |
