ECU cover

I installed the procede but i could not get the ECU cover completly flush and locked down. Do i risk frying the ECU or Procede due to water damage?

i think you answered your own question.

and you are the only one that hasnt gotten that lid locked correctly. Someone i know left it cracked open and it cost upwards of $2K to replace every corroded pin that was in that ECU.

You'll want to keep working on it to get it properly closed. Take your time, don't force it. You've likely got a wire trapped between the lid and the lip of the box. If you force it, you run the risk of damage to that wire.

Take the lid off and spend a few minutes understanding how it goes on, where it latches. Before you try to re-lid, gently arrange the wires of the various harnesses so that they fit without pressure at about the height of top of the lid with no pressure applied.

I found the PROcede and its harness somewhat more difficult to cram into the ECU box than that of various JuiceBoxes, but with patience either will fit just fine.

Hope this helps.

Will do, when i get home from work tonight. What happened was i installed the PROcede weds and the cover went on fine, no problem. Then yesterday i threaded the USB through the firewall and when i was done it was getting dark so i did my best to close the lid figuring i would open her back up and close it after work today. I was just wondering if it rained tonight if i would be fk'd

Yah...just make sure you are lining where the plastic hooks latch on properly and they will pull everything tight. If you were in drier areas like Southern Cal or AZ I would say don't worry too much, but seeing you live in NY where it's hot and humid in the summer, def get that on tight.!

^+1, make surer the ECU lid's locks are in the 'unlock' position. Then try wiggle the lid on and close it shut..............

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I recently opened the ECU and the actual locks fell off the lid.

I can not seem to get them back on, any help is appreciated.

The locks snap back onto the lid. Use a lil pressure.

You can either buy the whole cover or the individual locks. Not sure about the lock in the back, though - they don't have a picture/number for it.

I should point out, that is for an 07 E90 335i, you'll want to go to the homepage of realoem.com and start over with your exact car. But you can use my link as a reference to get to that part.
