If you don't track the car much, is it still worth it?
I am kind of thinking yes, as I hate trying to squeeze 400NM through one tire.

Yes it is.

I don't get onto the track too often but I do enjoy spirited drives on weekends etc and it really makes putting all the power down much easier.

You can also have heaps more fun power sliding and drifting around corners, but be careful as you can come unstuck at times if your not careful, as I recently did and clipped a signpost .

Will this diff change the final drive ratio?

I have been considering an LSD for a while in my 325i MT, as the TC light always flashes off the mark and around corner when taking off briskly. I think an LSD will allow the power to be put down more effectively.

However I heard that some LSD's also change the final drive ration which will also be good. The standard gearing on the 325i MT revs too low in an effort to reduce fuel consumption. The result is sluggish performance off the mark unless you rev high and drop the clutch. Also performance around corners is poor as revs are around 1200rpm in 2nd. Could drop back to 1st, but this seems ridiculous just for a bit of extra grunt. Always think that at least 2000rpm would be best in 2nd around corners as the performance would be instantly available.

Thoughts anybody?
