Golf Tee Mod ~question~

Hey guys, I have been searching about the golf tee mod on the 335i's and I am willing to do it, but I heard that the check engine light turns on. Is this true?
Thanks.

no light

I actually put a plastic BB from a AirSoft gun in the vacuum hose to keep the valve open. I didn't unplug the relay like the DYI

Do you know if unplugging turns on light?

I unplugged, didn't do anything to turn on any lights.

The exhaust is a little louder, but not much. I mainly notice it on engine start.

I think it's psychosomatic, but I feel like there's a slight loss in power after unplugging.

No lights whatsoever,Period. But all your going to get is a louder exhaust upon cold start.Once the revs come down and your driving,it sounds just like stock.I did this mod months ago,and went back to stock the next day as i heard no difference at all except on cold start.

Dude, don't do it. I did it and my exhaust exploded. Left a huge ass hole where I plugged in the BB, and what sucks most of all...my warranty got voided.

You won't get lights. And if you're going the BB route (as opposed to unplugging the connector by the tailight) you'll get no codes either. But like the other poster said, a lil SEARCH would go a long way on this topic--it's been beaten to death a hundred times over.

i did the golf tee for 30 mins, not really liking the tone, i mean i had so many cars with rumbling exhaust tones before, and think i should keep this one quiet.... back to stock afterward. also i did realize the idle was a little rough after golf tee, and also a slightly electrical whining noise from somewhere inside the car after the golf tee....
idle back to normal and no more whining noise after everything back to stock.

Mine was like night and day, to the point that if I'm going on long road trips I plug it in because it's so deep and pronounced with it unplugged. Oh, and it doesn't turn any lights on to stay on topic.

I think the muffler flap acts differently with the european and US version...

In my European version the flap is closed until 4000RPM, so the golf T mod sounds really GOOD

I definitely like it; the cars sounds a bit more powerful on light loads and a bit more impressive at start :-)

I like it in mine, night and day with the vac line uplugged. If you unplug the wiring in the trunk, you will get a code saying it is unplugged, but it won't set a light, just shows up on a scan. Unplugging the vaccuum line will not set the code.
