Dealer messed up my rims :(

So i stopped by the dealer last Friday because my 6FL cable stopped charging my iPhone. The guy at the check-in gets my key and tells me that i am due for rear brake replacement, so i schedule an appointment for this Tuesday.

He also proceeds to tell me that 6FL cable problem is *VERY* common and its because it gets crashed by the armrest.. without even looking at my cable. He suggests that i go and buy another one for $67 because it won't be covered. That pissed me off and i left. Called BMWNA to complain about it, since it is an obvious design issue, but they were closed last Friday.

On Monday night i get a TMPS warning and notice a huge nail in my passenger side rear tire. Put some air in it, and warning went away. So I figured i'll have the brakes done first and then go fix the tire.

Anyway, I go back to the dealer on Tuesday to drop of my car. The SA is very nice, i tell him about the 6FL cable and we just walk over to the Parts and he gives me a new one. No question asked. That was nice. I get a brand new LCI E90 "loaner" for $25 and head to work.

This morning i wake up, feeling veeeeery uneasy about some tire shop touching my VMR wheels and right at this moment a realize that the dealer had to take them off to replace the rear brakes. So i go to pick up my car and first thing i check is my rear wheels. Both of them are chipped in a BUNCH of places around lug nuts. I was sooooo pissed! Went over to talk to the SA, so he said they have the guy who refinishes the wheels and promised to refinish it for me. Something tells me their "refinishing" would fuck them up even more..... The most fucked up thing is that i put masking tape on my RAD wheel lock key so it does not mess up the finish, so i was hoping maybe they would be smart enough to put some marking tape on their tools..... NOPE. That would probably require a brain....

I leave the dealer all pissed off and go the Discount Tire to get the nail out. Shoot shit with the guy for a minute tell him about my chipped wheels and ask him to be careful.

15 minutes later my car is ready and they did an EXCELLENT job, unlike the fucking dealer, who did not even notify me that they scratched my wheels, even though i am pretty damn sure they knew about it.....

Discount Tire - WIN
BMW Dealer - FAIL

and i was afraid it will be other way around. and too add insult to injury, today is my birthday

here are some pictures, but there are MANY more chips around lug nuts

VMR V710. Gunmetal finish.

Water spots are from from the dealer "washing" my car, which means spraying it with a hose and air drying outside. When i brought the car in, it was cleaner than when i picked it up.... i had it washed on Sunday....

Those cables blow. It's been a common problem. Mine never worked properly from the start (RCA jack had bad continuity), and when I finally remembered to mention it to my SA, he said they'd go ahead and replace it no questions asked. Works fine now.

Damn sorry to hear about your wheels though. If those scratches make you crazy, you'd have a coronary over what I did to my wheels pulling over to park against the curb at the tattoo place yesterday.... Fkn nailed the curb man....

Happy birthday!! Sorry to see your poor wheels You should definitely complain to the SA and tell them to repair/replace them for you. That's messed up.

I dread taking my car into the dealer. The techs don't give a flying fuck about our cars. Unless I have to, I don't take my car to any of the San Diego BMW dealers.

I only take mine to the dealer for my one oil change and brakes. I have an amazing mechanic who I've known for over 8 years and he's the only one I really trust with my cars. His rates are less than half of the stealer's and I've never had any damage done from him. If anyone needs a referral, let me know and I can give you his number.

I trust one mechanic at BMW of Encinitas. Mike. Otherwise, forget it. Shane over at EuroAutoSpot gets my biz all day long.

The stuff that takes place at the dealers is unreal. I saw a quote the other day for nearly $10,000 at Cunningham BMW. The tech said that the tranny needed work, something else needed work, and something smaller needed work. In all, right around $10K for parts and labor. The dinglefucks are so incompetent. The Cunningham techs didn't know what they were doing. Imagine if this poor woman had actually allowed Cunningham to do all of this useless work.

Shane did the job for $600. None of the crap that Cunningham flagged was correct. The problem was something else. Dopes.

It was a woman. Probably doesn't know a lot about her car. Glad she went out and got a second opinion. She was probably quite happy that Shane did it for a fraction of the cost.

Cunningham in El Cajon SUCKS man for service. I never want to go there for even the simplest problems. Those dimwits don't know shittt... In fact, even though their sales dept. is decent I still don't want to go and buy a car from there in the future. I'll be sticking to BMW of SD and there service has been top notch, SA knows his shit and so do the techs I've met.

Shane over at EuroAutoSpot is a great guy. San Diego is lucky to have him

My buddy had that happen to him at a local tire shop and they just replaced his wheels. I am not too keen on them repainting your wheels, but they're yours so do as you please.
