Aside from it being tax free you get it about $4000 less than MSRP. The 7's you get for almost 10K less. Only downside is the warranty is crappy if you decide to keep the vehicle overseas and there is no maintenance.

Awesome Deal, just sucks for the soldiers stationed State Side, we are NOT entitled to this discount... WHICH makes absolutely NO sense... but I digress...

I'm retired military. When I was stationd in Germany, Pentagon Car Sales sold more than just BMWs. Looks like things have changed.

If you do your homework, you can equal Military Sales price of 4000 as a poster mentioned off MSRP and do better through European Delivery Program. My EDP was 6500 off MSRP and about 5200 off MSRP out the door after paying taxes and tags.

What kind of Warranty comes with a BMW purchased through this program?

The car comes with a 24-month/unlimited-mileage warranty in Europe and 48-month/50,000 mile in the USA. Both warranties run concurrently from the delivery acceptance date. Should your ownership in Europe exceed the 24-month warranty period, your local BMW Service dealer can offer additional warranty cover at reasonable prices.

Will the BMW Full Maintenance Program cover my BMW?

This particular program applies only in the USA (48-month/50,000-mile) and does not cover the servicing of US models outside the USA. However, the program would be available once your BMW is in the USA (providing it still falls within the stated mileage/in-service parameters).

It is similar to diplomatic sales, it is tax free, in addition BMW reduces their base price on the vehicle plus there are different equipment packages offered.

But, you will have to pay tax when you go to register it in the US.
So the tax free benefit is just deferred to when you come home.
Been there, done that!

not necessarily true, depends on how long you have owned the car before you get back to the US and the DMV of the state you are registering in. each state has their own regulations on if you have to pay taxes on the vehicle depending on how long you have owned it. for example, iirc, cali requires at least a year of ownership before you do not have to pay taxes on it when you come back to the US. i think NJ is something like 6 months.

edit: OP - is the first dealership pic the one they just built in Ramstein not too long ago? if so, that's just down the street from where i used to live =P

...ahhh memories, good times over there

I'm not sure about the different equipment packages. The only packages available when I purchased my 335 were the same ones offerred in the US. For california you also need to have your vehicle smogged despite being new. Any vehicle brought into california needs to be smogged. Plus California still applies it's vehicle registration tax at 7.25% Federal tax can be waived if a certain amount of miles are driven on the car. You do save some money on the vehicle. I'm on the fence in regards to the value of the program. Oh, you also have to pick up the vehicle at Port Hueneme when it arrives, or pay a separate fee to have it brought to your neighborhood dealer. Just some extras to think about.

To be absolutely fair, this is how car buying should be done. I walked in, they tossed me the keys of a comparable model and gave me 45 minutes with the car alone. On the Autobahn. I got to test the speed limiter, the brakes, everything. When I returned I checked off the items I wanted, dropped a deposit. The salesmen will do everything they can to make the transport and delivery of your vehicle as painless as possible. That is where the program shines.

I myself am talking with Pentgon sales right now and have been impressed with their prices. The only problem I have seen so far has been the import tax and delivery fee which bring the car closer to the price in the states. Right now, I have been looking at getting either the E90 335i manual or auto. I actually owned a 2008 E90 335i w/auto before I got deployed and loved it, but did feel the shifts were a little slow at times. Of course, I did own a GTI w/DSG before that, so any auto tranny would feel slow compared to that.

I have also been comparing the price of the 335i to that of the G37 and the price difference is amazing. I can get a G37 sedan fully loaded for almost $6500 less than a base price E90 335i.

Anyway, help me out, do I buy now or wait until I get back to the states? If so, then auto or manual, G37 or 335i?
