JB+ tested today
I got the JB+ today and it was VERY easy to install. I could immediately locate the connection point and it was installed in 15 seconds. No removal of airbox.
The car was warmed up to a good oil temperature before the pulls started... I'm REALLY impressed with the extra power that the JB+ provides The unit exceeds my expectations without any doubt. Thanks a lot to Burger Motorsports The unit was set above default value already from start; I selected a 2 o clock setting. Back home I connected the OBD II tool, which is a wireless BT-interface and a PC application. Everything is in order; no DTC’s are present. I guess the ECU will learn and provide more power after some more driving, but even if it don't, the power is fully satisfying (at the moment..). The plan was to later on upgrade to a JB3, Dual Cone intake, better IC etc., but right now it feels there is no hurry to do this. |

JB+ is great fun.
If you havent done already, I would do the solenoid bypass; car is much more responsive.

Ordered my jb+ about two months ago and finally got around to installing it last week. Took me about 20 minutes. Next time will only take a few minutes. I have not driven the car much since due to travel but, I notice a difference. Plan on putting the car on a dyno in the near future. What should I expect at the default setting? About 310 hp and 320 torque at the wheel? Good product and customer support.

Solenoid bypass tested today. I can't say I notice any improvements by this mod. Perhaps I spend too little time learning the engine characteristics without the bypass. The ECU may also not have been fully trained to JB+. Anyway, the car pulls MUCH stronger with JB+ and I'm surprised and very pleased with the outcome. It makes a BIG difference on a stock 335i. No faults codes yet, I’ve been checking this a few times now and feel I can just enjoy the mod.

I'm currently running the JB+ at non-girl (max) setting, the car is very strong and no fault codes are generated :-) The power of a tuned 335 is extraordinary...God's gift to the public racing community?

Hmm, strange there was no difference after the bypass; I was doing it after a month or so and experienced quite a difference.
Your car seems to be runnig perfect from the very beginning; there seems no much room for improving . I am also running the max setting and tested it on german autobahn: Great fun, no trouble

The bypass may have had effect, I may have noticed a difference if I had driven the car more w/o bypass, as you did. The autobahn is great, especially during low traffic where it could be used as a Formula 1 track Last edited by R1000K3; 07-08-2009 at 03:30 AM.. |

Yes, of course it will increase the performance of an automatic as well :-) The AT version has a higher final gearing, which at least in theory adds pulling force to the rear wheels.
I've measured the boost pressure today with the maximum setting of JB+, which I'm running. The pressure is 13.5 PSI, no wonders the car pulls like a freight train with probably more than 50 whp over a stock 335. Another positive effect apart from being much stronger on midrange is that it produces very good power at and above 6000 rpm, where the stocker feels like hitting a brick wall. |

I know there are always risks and all that, but just how risky is this mod? Have there been any reports at all of malfunction due to the installation of one of these?

Its been my experience that no matter what tune, exhaust, intake, etc. someone puts on their car, someone will blow it up. Most of these tunes have been 20yr old tested by the thousands. For the amount of people piggy backing, flashing etc. there are really a tiny amount of actual problems as far as I can see. If you drive your car hard, things go boom, tune or no tune. As was recommended to me, buy a BT tool and turn up the boost.

The JB+ car was raced against a Procede provided car, which also has race-IC, better intake, downpipes and mufflers. The difference was not so big as I would have predicted. We started at 50 km/h on 2nd and stopped at 220 km/h. The Procede car took two car lengths directly at start, which was increased to a total of 6 car lengths at 220 km/h. 6 lengths at 220 does not take very long. I was quite surprised not being like 150 meters behind @220 km/h. So, the outcome is that JB+ delivers well. In case the test had been done above 220 km/h the Procede car would have a favour by it's higher output power, which is in the region 400 whp compared to JB+ that may have 330 or something like that on 98 octane (Euro STD).
