Ordered New 335i coupe but have some ?s
[u2b]<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/yS_gD-eNGp0&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/yS_gD-eNGp0&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>[/u2b]I just ordered an Alpine White 335i coupe with:
-M-Sport Package w/ paddle shifters -STEPtronic Transmission -Navigation Package - Black Leather Interior I have made a deposit, and the order will be put in tomorrow according to the dealer guy. I have a coupe of questions though..... Can you guys tell me how long this order process takes(approximately)? If the order is placed lets say July 6th, approximately when will I receive my car here in Philly? I really didnt want to wait for the 2010 model, and if the only diff is the DCT (which i wouldnt get cause i wont need it), I dont think its worth it for me. What do you guys think? I did not add the ipod adapter to my order is it really worth it? can I still add music to my hard drive in some way? Sorry for all the questions and pardon my english i am still learning. Engwish is not too bad! LOL JK!
Depends on when the order makes its way over to Germany. I'm assuming that's what you're doing. Once your order goes in you'll recieve a VIN number. Shortly there after your vehicle will hit the assembly line. If you put the order in July 6th your vehicle should be completed well before August. After that it'll jump on a boat and you'll have to wait about 2 months. So September would probably be your best bet. BTW congrats on the car! I put my order in 3 weeks ago and I have to wait until October for my e90 AW. |

I'm over here in Korea and the boat that comes from Germany to here with US Spec cars only has a couple of slots a month. I was 2 days too late and was put on the August list. One way around the wait is to pick one up on the LOT=)

Then cancel your order and find an 08?.....
I was extremely lucky when I picked up mine. called up my salesman a few weeks in advance, and he told me he just got in a brand new 09 335i coupe JB/coral with 230's. I literally got the exact car I would've ordered, minus the nav. 2 miles on her when I took delivery!... Never hurts to shop around a little more. |

I did shop around the only problem is that the M-Sport is rather new and cant find one with it. If i would have decided not to get M-sport package I would have a car right now from the dealer. I still think M-sport is worth it though..

Also, it may just be me but I think the aero front lip looks better than the M-tech front. (Rear is a different story...) |

Congrats on your order.
The time from beginning to car pickup was about 8 weeks or so. My car was completed on the 22nd of April and I picked it up at the dealer on the 28th of May. I could be wrong, but I think the factory goes on holiday for a short time in the summer, you're car may be slightly delayed due to that fact. Make sure you follow the progress on the BMW website, and then you can track the boat it gets put on over the internet. Check out the ordering section of this forum for more details. iPod adapter is worth it in my opinion. You can download songs to the harddrive via a thumbdrive or other USB device through the glove compartment. I've done this with music that I want permanently in the car. However, I can't seem to get audiobooks to work this way, so I've had to use an iPod for that. The M Sport option is just too new for many dealers to have too many of the cars on the lot. Plus, if you want a 6MT, I doubt you'll find too many of these on dealers lots as well. Better off ordering. Your English isn't bad at all. I usually make snide little comments about people's poor English on these forums, HOWEVER, the poor English usually isn't from people who learned English as a second language. It's usually from native English speakers who are lazy and shiftless!

Have you checked out the tracking guide from this forum?? http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=828. It tells you everything you need to know about your order. Hopefully your car will be built in Germany. I believe some are actually assembled in South Africa. Quality of the South African built cars exceeds that of the German plant. Initially, I thought that only pertained to the E90s, but apparently some E92 are built there as well(AM I WRONG??). Anyway, 8 weeks is about right but at this time. Wouldn't you be better off waiting a few months for a 2010 model. There always are upgrades and changes(most times for the better but not always) . In any event, the wait is EXCRUCIATING!!!!!!!!!!! The only solace you have is that you can actually track the progress of your car during the build and shipping process. Not sure any other automaker give you that info. Good luck, believe it or not, the car will be here. Just some suggestions to do while you are waiting. Decide if you want a rear spoiler or not. If so, order it and have it ready to install when the car gets here. Since you have the M sport package, I suggest the M3 spoiler. Secondly, You may want to get rid of the Hideous amber side reflectors. You can get both of those items from Jlevi streetwerks. You may also want to check out **********s and Bimmian for some other items that you may want to add or change on your car. It will help pass the time. Only other suggestion is perhaps you could get a physician to place you in an induced coma for the next 8 weeks. That way, in a blink of an eye, your car will be here. Just think of all the money you will save as long as you have good medical insurance.

It'll probably take a couple days to get to Bremerhaven from there and then it could be up to 1 week before it gets on a ship. From there it'll be close to 10 days to get from Bremerhaven to the east coast. Then after that it'll take a few days at least at the VPC (if you're lucky) then a few more days at dealer before you can get it. So I estimate adding about 4-5 weeks to your wait. You're total wait is usually 6-8 weeks. Probably closer to 6 for you since you live on the East Coast.
Mine is going to be about 7 weeks until I see my car at the dealership since I live in the Midwest. |
