Lease prices at this time are only $10/month more for the Xi. I assume the ride height might be higher and no performance suspension. But would the differences be significant. 17" A/s tires standard as well, but I figure I could actually use them for winter driving and use my current aftermarket wheels and tires the other 9 months. The stock 18" wheels and RF tires have been sitting in my garage since 4k on the odometer to be put back on at lease return in 10 months.

The thing sticks to the road like crazy glue. Better launches too. You'll love it when traveling on the rain also.

I test drove a 08 335xi before getting a 09 335i M-sport. The 335i M-Sport felt MUCH more responsive and sportier than the 335xi I test drove. I am not sure whether this is because of the 08 vs 09 diff, the m-sport pkg, or the xi difference. The 335xi I test drove was very sluggish and felt pretty similar to my last 330i in terms of handling and performance. |

I guess that since I have 2 other AWD cars in the stable, I really don't need another AWD car. I think I just consider releasing a 335i coupe unless I decide on a different make and model.

If you don't need the AWD for snow, then stick with the coupe. The ride height of the xi looks a little silly (subjective, but i have one so I feel i have the right to say that). Plus, although the xi has better traction at launch, the lighter coupe will feel more responsive in all other situations. I had a RWD sport package loaner once and it felt like a rocket compared to my xi.

This is my first All Wheel Drive car, and I will never own another 2WD car. Love the way it handles, and can't wait to try it out this winter.

you dont really need AWD for 'snow' where I live lol
AWD cars stick but IMO are less FUN to drive... who doesn't mind the back end going out here and there? lol drive them. test them. then decide |

If you already have a separate set of wheels/tires, I say stick with the I and save money.

it's a fun ride, and I almost went with an xi for my next BMW but then opted for the i at the last minute. Of course, I can usually avoid having to drive in snow/ice the 2 or 3 times per year we get it here. Among other things, xi adds 200 lb unladen weight and slightly reduces turn radius.

Pros:
If i were to do it all over again, I would get a beater for the winter and a non x-drive. |

I'm not certain that this is true. I'd take the i up a winding hill, dry or wet, anyday, and I'm pretty sure it will handle better than the xi. Now if it was snowing, that's a different scenerio, but then again I wouldn't power any car up a winding hill in the snow.

The XI is not a bad drive at all. It is more composed & has less body roll than an Audi A4 & Lexus IS250.
