First time buying
I'm sure this has been asked many times, I searched but I was hoping for more up to date info.
Going to buy the 335i and the dealer is pushing the demo car. (guessing the 2010s are coming out soon) 1) should I wait? Do 2009 prices drop as soon as the first 2010s arrive? 2) how do I get the best deal? 3) I dont mind buying a used as long as it has less than 10K Any advice for a future newbie? |

Is it CPOed? If not you can save some serious money by buying private party. With a car that has 10K miles used is pretty much used. Anything wrong with the car will be fixed under warranty as long as it was not totally abused...

If it's a CPO I'd go for it if the price was right. I bought my E46 with 10k miles on it and it hasn't given me any problems. Great way to save some money and get some extra options on the car.

Demo cars tend to be thrashed around a bit. You know, when a person wants to test a car, they usually push it a bit. I mean, I know my dealer took their 335i to the track when they had a special open track day for BMWs and used the demo car on the track, and then sold it later. Track days just put a bit extra stress on parts and wear them out faster, which means more maintenance bills sooner than you would expect.
Not that I am saying this demo car was abused, but you never know. I suppose that logic could be applied to buying any used car, but if you buy from a person I would assume them to be reliable in the info they give you regarding how the car was used. I guess if its CPO'd then that should alleviate most of the issues you may have buying used. |
