Ran my JB+ Quarter Mile...Kind of Disappointed...

I went to the track yesterday with my e92 Steptronic and was a quite disappointed with the times. I had four runs and the two best times I had were:

13.487 @ 100.xx mph
2.015 60’

13.402 @ 101.99 mph
2.185 60’

Temp entire night was 75-80 degrees and we are at sea level.

The only mod I have is JB+ at default settings. Brake boost @ 2000rpm. Gas was around half a tank, 50% 91 octane 50% 96 octane. Stock BFG RFT.

On the two best times, I drove the car in DS mode and let the car shift itself. DTC pressed once.

I was really hoping to get low 13’s say around 13.1 or so. I know my 60’ times weren’t great but is it possible to get 13.1~13.2 with those 60’ times? I’ve seen stock 335’s on this forum run low to mid 13’s and some even trapping higher than my car. Any thoughts on why the time seems a bit slow or am I just expecting too much?

Take dtc and asc off. Brake boost to 1500 rpm and use steptronic , not ds. Shift around 6500 rpm.

Brake boosting should help you some... Also if you really wanna get quicker numbers crank that JB+ up some! You were using the right octane for above standard use.

I tried to do the the ASC off also and could not get traction at all. That was with a 2k brake boost. I will try the 6500 rpm shift next time. I wasn't aware that the 335's powerband drops off so dramtically

I actually just edited my post since I did brake boost at 2k...do you think 100% JB+ can get me in to 12's??

That is a surprise. Launching is a technique though. I don't know much about doing it with an automatic but with a stick it takes some skill. In Vegas anyone who normally does high 12's will see 13's since we are higher up and it is hot here.

Those 60' times are horrid. Improve the launch and you will see low 13's as is.

With the 2.1 sec 60' times, we might expect an exit speed of 106mph+
For whatever reasons your car does not have much power.

I'd be more worried about your low trap speeds. That is probably equal or worse than stock. I would see anywhere from 101.xx - 103.xxx in hot, humid FL heat during the summer, stock. You probably should contact BMS and get it straightened out.

Maybe your fuel pump is wasting away..... Have you opened up the JB+ to ensure it is in fact set to the middle and not the minimal setting?

Try to run as high octane as possible..

Not that surprised to be quite honest.

Those are average 60fts on stock rubber.Have you considered drag radials or slicks ? Those stick much better.Every tenth off your 60ft can get you anywhere from .1-.3 seconds off your e.t(1/4) for example,
on a 1.9 60ft,you could've run anywhere from a 13.1-13.3 on the same octane!
a 1.8 60ft could've run anywhere from a 12.7x-13.0

See what I mean ?

Now your trap was on the low side..

The contributing factors to that are : 1.Octane 2.DA(Density Altitude) 3.Heat soak(intercooler)

My suggestion..as ramble mentioned,
1.Do the solenoid bypass.
2.Run as high octane as possible.
3.Get some drag radials or slicks(if you can)
4. Try to go on a day or night that isnt so hot.
5. Try to let you car cool down as best as possible between runs.
6. Practice on your launching technique.

With that im pretty sure you'll run high 12s/low 13s.

Good luck!

dude if you are still on default boost with the JB+ you are making a huge mistake, and are wasting your time.

crank the boost all the way up...there IS a HUGE difference.

+1

But dont forget the octane.

Cranking the boost is a must for performance..but if you dont have the fuel to back it up,it may actually run worst.

Remember he's running on 91.

What do you run stock in similar conditions? All tracks are different, don't try to compare your times to others on the net unless you know all the variables like density altitude, octane, traction, etc.

Guys, I just took off my jb+ and it definitely felt slower. I then cranked it up 100% and now the car feels like a beast.

The track was Infineon and it is known to be a slow track with headwind and it is supposedly slighty inclined upward.

An E55 was running 13.1 and my buddy's stock C6 (non zo6) could only manage 13.0 so I'm not too worried. I'm going to take my car back when its a lot cooler and will crank it to 100% w/ 100 octane next time!

Also, a couple quick questions...

If I use DS mode from a stop does it begin in 2nd gear?

Also is it better to shift around 6k-6.5k (if using paddles) rather than redline?

I'm not sure what gear DS starts in but yes, shift the car by 6.5k. It falls flat on its face.
