258hp 328i for 2010??

Just saw the engine spec for the X1, it looks like the "28" engine for X1 and X3 are with 258hp...... Will that be possible that BMW is going to upgrade the 328i to 258hp for 2010 model? And when are dealers going to take order for 2010 model? I really want one if the 328i is 258hp! Thanks

For a car they dont make anymore in the US. Yes 328 power should be more than 330 power.

Just because the X3 gets that hp doesn't mean the 3 series will. The current US spec X3 already makes 260hp (since 2007), but the 328 still makes 230hp. More than likely, if it does get a boost in HP, they'll probably call it the 330 again

258hp comes to close with the 335 IMO theres a reason why they did 230hp to being with so there would be a nice 70hp difference between the top of line 3 series. If they did 258 that would mean the 335 would have to get a nice bump in hp as well.

The 330i was 255hp when the 325i had 215hp. It was only a 40hp difference. But quite a difference

I wouldn't be surprise if they boost it to 258hp. The 328i in my opinion is too underpowered.

Very unlikely. 328 won't touch 330.

even if the 2010 328/330 had 260hp... it would still not be "close" to the 335.

on paper, it would be a 40hp difference but we all know the 335 really makes about 330-340hp so in reality, its a much bigger difference. not to mention the massive difference in tq.

even still, 40hp is substantial. please think back to the age of the e36 when the difference between the 323/325 to the top dog 328 was only 22hp. while on paper, it didnt seem like much, but the driveability and flexibility of the two e36's engines were worlds apart, which is why i (like many of you) paid thousands more for the 328.

even the e46 had only had about 20-40hp difference between the 323/325 vs the 328/330 and that didnt stop many from paying the extra money for that "small" difference.

258 is a nice boost. it definately turns the 328 into a mans car.

Help me out with this: I'm new to BMW land. The 335 makes 330-340hp?? Has someone dyno-ed it with these #'s?

(sorry to thread jack)

Alot of us know this however you forget, the "average customer" only knows what the paper is showing him.

Stock 335 makes ~270 HP at the rear wheels.

even if the average consumer is unaware of this fact... once they test drive it, they should be able to tell that there is a substantial difference between the 330's (or 2010 328's) 260hp and the 335's ~330hp. not to mention the 120+ difference in tq.

Fuck...please release the 2010 stats sheet for 328i!

Is it possible that BMW will release a 258hp model for the 2010 328i? IMO I think they would wait until the next-gen to come out to put the 258hp engine inside it..

What you guys think?

I doubt any engine increase will be present, they can't even ship the DCT over here, never mind a different engine or improved engine. We get leftovers here.

Ahh Yes, but you were speaking about two quite comparable engines. Just that one had a bit more poke. People might change their mind when they consider the 335i propensity to break when the weather changes and also the fact that the turbos always incite some longevity concerns.

But i still don't think housewives and poor people need more power from their leases.

Instead of the twin turbo, they should release the 360HP engine that the 6 series has for the 3 series... Me thinks NO turbo = less worry about failures.
