If you only have money for 325/328, get a different brand. There're better alternatives out there for the same price.

Just realized that you're from UK. Might be a different story over there. I was referring to USA.

What year is your 320d? I wish they sold this car in N. America. I drove it while studying in Scotland, just loved the low end torque on it.

Yes the 325i is a great car, we have two of them. My wife drives a 2004 325xi 5AT and I have a 2006 325i 6MT with sport suspension. Would recommend you look for one with the sport suspension, which comes with really good sport seats as well. I am assuming you would get a manual transmission since almost no one buys automatic in Europe.

Cheers.

Buy a new C-Class. Cheaper and more car for the money.

Insane thinking. Repeat after me; power is not the answer of it all.

Since last year, the Euro 325i has direct injection (more advanced one than 335i) and it is very good on fuel economy. so you won't be penalized much from your tractor engine while enjoying a great and lively engine.

In Australia, for the E92 we get the 323i, 325i and 335i. The first two get the same 2.5 liter engine, but the 323 is de-tuned 20hp or so. The 335i gets the 3.0 liter with the twin turbos.
The 335i is definitely the better performer, but the 325i is generally considered better all-around value for money, as it is a bit lighter, easier to maintain and no slouch. It also gets sat-nav and other goodies that the 323i does not get as standard. I have an E92 325i, and am very happy with it. No issues to report so far.

x2 (knock on wood yet again). I just turned over 48K, so far a fuse has blown and I've had a few rattles here and there, nothing out of the ordinary. Knowing that the CPO warranty has my back sure is nice though

This being my first BMW, it truly is an incredible machine, if you find the "Things You Didn't Know About Your 3-Series" thread, it'll blow your mind. It's a great car for the money. Hell I looked at an '04 TL with 20K more miles for the same friggin price, and stock for stock it doesn't even come close to holding a candle to a 3.

if your looking for speed then there are much better alternatives for the same price, if you looking for luxury ummm still you could get a benz which is more luxurious then bimmer. it all depends what your looking to use it for. but if you just want that bimmer badge then just go for it.
