Lightweight Crank Pulley Release

We have been working on getting lightweight pulleys made for the 335i for quite some time now. These pulleys are significantly lighter than the stock pulleys, but retain the same dimensions. The reason for this is that we believe the few extra horsepower that comes from under driving the accessories isn't worth the potential problems it could cause. An added bonus of this is that the stock belt will work with the lightweight pulley as well.

We will have dynos up next week. If gains are worthwhile, we will post pricing up and then start taking order.

Stock weight = 6.97 lbs
Aftermarket weight = 1.97 lbs
Materials = T-6061 aluminum
Specs = stock diameter

Why has it taken so long to make a pulley for our car? Hopefully there will be more options out there soon!

I wish we could but the dyno schedule is almost full for today, so theres no way we could fit in two sets of runs. Also, by the time the car cools down and the pulley gets installed, the conditions will have changed a bit anyways. Plus I assure you, 95% of all Houston summer days are almost the same: about 94 degrees and 90% humidity.

We simply won't dyno the car again until conditions are close to matching those taken during the baseline.

Also, I'm uploading pictures at this moment so they will be up in 2 minutes!

I've not bothered to look it up but is the crank "pulley" a pulley by itself or is it integrated with a harmonic balancer of some sort? Nothing is underdriven?

So we're thinking 1lb vs 7lbs of mass is going to generate significant HP?

Pullies are great track mods, huge help getting out of the corners. You might see a couple extra ponies on a rear wheel dyno, but the real improvement is on acceleration in the real world. I had one on my 350Z which dropped 4.5 pounds from stock and put down close to 5 rwhp. It FELT more like 10-15 horsepower at the track coming out of a turn onto a straight.

BE CAREFUL installing these, I had mine installed by a friend's friend and apparently he didn't torque it correctly... it came loose and wore out the slot on my crank shaft. I paid Nissan about $3700 to replace my crank shaft since the shaft was no longer useable. It started out as an oil leak, found it coming out of the crank shaft seal, then found out the pulley had almost broke free from being loose.

Great mod! Just make sure it is done correctly, like seriously you might want to get BMW to do it.

Excited to see this finally avaialbe for our cars

i believe the n54 is an internally ballanced crank engine. i could be wrong tho.

I had a lightweight pulley in my 350z, not under driven that freed up 12hp. I believe it was roughly 6-7 pounds lighter...
