09 335i Post March Build Dates with fuel pump problems post here
Just like the thread title states. Someone in an earlier thread had stated that 09 335i that were built after March come with a revised fuel pump. Link to that thread here:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=277417 Let's get to the bottom of this and see if there's any truth to the matter. Also, any one with an 09 that has had a fuel pump replacement after March feel free to post if your symptoms have returned or if you have had to *God forbid* get yet another fuel pump replacement. |

Mine is a march build with almost 3,000 miles and i have no problems. I only use Shell V-Power Gasoline though.

Funny thing is that a year from now, there will be a new poll on pump failures and we will see if Shell is all it's cut out to be. I frankly think that it is just a piece of crap HPFP. Doesn't matter what bloody gas you put in it. BTW, Mar 09 build with 2500kms and no probs yet. Also Shell only FTW.

I am sure BMW has this data already, since they know where every single failed HPFP is located (hell, they probably use that data to determine how many HPFP's to stock in a particular region), but it would be interesting if someone started a database of the location of all the failed fuel pumps and the percentage of ethanol in the gas in that location. I would really like to know if there any legitimate correlation between % of ethanol in the gas and number of HPFP failures in a given location.
So many other systems in the car are really well designed that I just can't believe that the failures are simply a shitty design - that they would take so little care as to produce a part that fails so often. IMO it's some sort of external factor (like the high % of additives in various regional markets). Just an opinion, worth exactly what you paid for it LOL!!!
