Soooo.. i had this noise for a long time. Ive noticed it more when i put in the LSD but.... i just took my car back from the shop and had the rear subframe bushings replaced to M3 ones....

The sound is GONE! I used to have to shift lightly to avoid that "clunk" but now i can just drop the clutch and its not there anymore... Ill have to test the car out some more but its gone...

Another thing i did was tighten the drive shaft bolt to the diff and that did reduce the noise a little bit before the subframe bushings.

While we're being auto-hypochondriacs... anyone get a 6th gear whine? In 6th, coasting down hill at about 35mph? 5th doesn't make noise. 6th does.

mines more of a squeaking when i disengage the clutch pedal slower than normal..very annoying...but ya i do get a giant clunk noise sometimes when engaging the clutch sometimes..like sounds like a metal clunk then followed by some shaking..its always done it so i figured it was normal,,,i think its disengaging when the engine is still revving and its just the sound of it letting go that you hear sometimes

Its fine. You're doing everything right. Maybe the German BMW engineers don't have hearing as good as their American customers?

I notice a slight clunk when i slip the clutch while shifting gears.... its noticed at the very end of the clutch engagement.. (maybe last inch of the clutch pedal being let out) if i keep my foot off the gas and slowly let the clutch out, there isnt any noise or clunk feeling.

That being said its been doing this since i got the car, almost felt like u-joints from an old truck of mine, this car was a cpo car that I bought from the dealer a month ago and currently has just under 30k miles...

its still under warranty.

Thoughts?

EDIT: 2007 335i sport, 6spd, all options...

no definitely not slipping at all when fully engaged... clutch feels strong and still chirps the tires when I get a bit overzealous.

Bringing this back from the dead but mine does this and it drives me NUTS! it feels like a broken or loose drivetrain and the dealer said it's perfecty normal! I'll try the m3 sub bushings because that was my first guess then go from there

Well, your dealer is completely right. That clunk noise is normal, nothing loose in the drivetrain. Get used to it.
