Am i asking For Too much???

Hey guys so here is the situation im in, i Bought my CPO 2007 335i about 1 year ago with 25,000 Miles for 40k out the door, I saved up really hard for the car and truly love it, But after putting only 10k miles on the car its been in the Shop 10 Times for warranty repairs.

I got in touch With BMW NA about One month ago, and they have been really nice so far checking up with Me and trying to help, they want me to get into another car. They got me in Touch With the Used Car manager at BMW of Fairfax where i bought the car. And so Ive been dealing with this man for about 4 weeks and have gotten no where. He doesn't Really acknowledge me ( i understand why he has nothing to gain from this). Im the person that has to instigate a conversation with him,

And this has been my solution so far, they give me 28k For my car, that's It, they except me to pay another 8-10K to get into another car, I could do this at another dealership its not like hes helping me at all. Im not even asking for a new car just another 335 with a tad lower miles. But He insists that 28k Is far beyond what i deserve, even tho i have gotten the same price from VOB Bmw another dealership in the area...

What should i do?

Thanks for all your help

It does look like they are giving you trade in value for your car but i don't understand why you would need another $10,000 to buy a comparable alternative to your car.

Exactly, I want the same car basically just with lower mileage, they Showed Me another 335i But it was a 2008 with 25k miles and he wanted 7k Plus taxes etc,
All i want is them to pay for the difference in price between another 335 and to CPO it like my car is now. Its like their trying to make even more money off me for the 2nd time in less the a year.

BMW is a business just like any other company. They're in it to make money, not appease some dude who bought a "used" BMW. Sorry man, it's just the way it is. They couldn't give two shits about you dude, it's not like they don't have enough clients.

1 year and 10K miles later.....

I really don't know what you expect the dealer to do.....

Take the car back?

Give you a car with less miles?

It's unfortunate you've had to have it in the shop so many times, but bottom line is it's been a year and 10K miles.....they're not just gonna take the car back.

Maybe I could see this happening if they give you the same year car with around the same miles since you originally bought from them as a "CPO", but I wouldn't count on a free upgrade.

Other than that I think you're probably SOL, so the $8-10K trade difference is probably what you're going to be looking at.

what exactly is wrong with your car that they want you to get a new one. if its covered under warranty, i dont see why they just cant fix the problem. if they fix the problem, you get your car and keep you money.

If BMW NA is really helpful and all, get them to offer you an extended warranty plan for a cheaper-than-usual price, like $1500 instead of the usual $2500.

He already has extended warranty. He paid for it.

But the OP will still have a car he can't drive reliably .

Sure..Warranty takes care of the cost. But if they can't fix the problem... Cost will be a mute point.

OP: Sorry you have to go through this. Looks like another dealer would be best. Good luck.

Whether its a car, lawn mower or a dishwasher you either feel comfortable that you are being given a fair deal/solution or you walk away. Take the $28k and see if they will make you a killer deal on a BRAND NEW 135i or take your business elsewhere.

That sucks. On the other side of things you can pick up an 07' with low miles for ~30k now.

I'd complain to BMW NA and explain how the used car manager was being
unreasonable with you.

I say get on his ass, be a pest and eventually things will go more your way.

After all your in the right aren't you?

where i'm at you can't find a used 335i coupe for under 35k, i picked up mine about a month and a half ago and paid 39 after taxes and everything so your best bet would be selling it privately for around 35, 33 at least.

Let's say a lease on that same car would be $700/mo on the high end for 10k miles. So 10k miles is worth $8400 depreciation and rent charge. Therefore, $31.5k is a fair buyout value if they want to retain you as a customer, all else being equal. Take that reasoning to them and ask them to escalate to BMWNA and see if it doesn't get you somewhere. If they won't do it, then call BMWNA yourself and open a case.

You're not likely to get a free ride just because you had some warranty work done, so forget about that. But I agree with you that wholesale and an everyman deal on the new ride just says that your SA does not believe that your troubles are worth anything.

unless you have had major repair issues w/ your CPO, keep your current ride.
drive it till the wheels fall off and get a new BMW down the road.
