Squeaky clutch pedal

Hi guys,

I have almost 8k miles on my car right now. I have had a squeaky clutch pedal for about 5K miles now, it's really annoying. Anyone else experience this before? If so, any quick fix? I really don't want to drop it off at the stealership just for this problem if it's not necessary.

Does it happen when you slightly touch the pedal, or an actual full press?

I have had this on a car before. It's usually a rubber piece rubbing up against the linkage or something, depending on design. Just take it in and have the dealership look at it.

I had a squeaky steering wheel and they fixed me up

The fix is just to spray some lubricant on the clutch spring thingy (sorry I'm not very technical ) - that's what the dealership did to mine when I took it in and it stopped the squeak.

the dealership will lube it but that does not always fix the problem. Mine started with a squeak, and after a couple sprays, turned into a click, got something replaced, the click came back after a couple days and then got something else replaced. It took a few visits but now it's gone, so just get it checked out.

It's likely one of the bushings that the clutch pedal pivots on. In the E36's these bushings were known to breakdown. UUC sold replacement bushings that were made of material different that OEM.

Lube will help, but eventually the fix is to replace the bushing.

FWIW, I have a 6MT and have a slight sqqqqqueak on full depress that can only be heard with windows up, radio off.

I had this problem too. Went into the dealership and they thought it was the pressure plate. They put in a new pressure plate, clutch disk and release bearing. The noise was still there. They put some high temperature grease on the plastic bushing of the slave cylinder and this solved the problem...so far.

my clutch pedal was making creaking sounds when releasing the clutch pedal around 3000 miles, lubed it up with a lot of wd40, around 9000 miles now, the noise never came back.

WD40 would have been useless in my situation. My noise came from within the bell housing where you can't access. A high temperature brake grease was needed.

Where is the clutch bushing? Under the car or inside the pedal area? I have a squeak on full press (starting from half way).
