No lag??

What is all this jumbo about "no lag" Does anyone really have NO LAG. I have an 07 with NO updated software and its obvious the engine doesnt come alive until at least 2000 rpm.

I'm pretty sure my software isnt updated (i have the old idrive interface) so what gives? Are you guys really getting the sensation of "no lag"???? Im just being realistic. You guys have me thinking the car isnt suppose to have lag.

bro, people complain about lag wayyyyyyy to much! 2000rpm its still not bad at ALL! try driving any other turbo car see how you do!

Of course there's lag...it's a turbo! They're not laggy, though, as turbos go.

At lower RPMs, the mass flow rate and enthalpy of the exhaust gas is lower, so it takes a little longer for the turbo to spool.

Given that our turbos are tiny AND the high quality of the available tunes, this is probably about as good as its going to get.

MT. Well lag really depends on your rpm not really the gear, but is see what you are saying. I have tried multiple times from varous speeds an gears. I dont feel good power tell im at least over 2000 rpm. And Im not talking about the hp. Our hp curve is pretty linear until it peaks so that isnt what gives you the sensation of thrust. Im sure my tq doesnt come alive at 1500 rpm. Mabye Im just expecting something different. I'll probably have my car dyno'ed when I move to Houston next week.

I know! I really dont understand, but I guess I should go drive another 335i to see if its the same. Turbo cars are supposed to have lag and there is NO turbo car on the market that is lagless. Yes our car and and the variable TT engine in the 997 TT have minimal lag, but NO LAG just isnt realistic.

Thats what I figured. So why in the hell is everyone complaining about the updates and lag.

Even without the update we get lag so is it really that much worse?

the lag can/does get much worse w/ different software updates.

and no, you cant have a turbo car with no lag no matter how small the turbo. At some rpm its not going to have boost yet.......lets say at idle.

It's an October 07 build. I think it's way more laggy now than it was when new. Doesn't get any power till after 2000-2400 rpm and doesn't really come alive till 3500.

what software? Any wastegate rattlin goin on? any HPFP codes?

try flooring it at 4000 rpms.

If the boost comes on right away, you don't have excessive lag.

I have noticed with my car that if I am really low, like 1200 RPM's, and I just give it about 1/2 gas I am boosting before I hit 2k RPM's. There is 0 turbo lag just a slight delay waiting on wastegates if you floor it... like 1/2 a second maybe or less.
