Unhappy 15k 1st oilservice price...ouch!

Hi all

Just had my 15k oil service. Just oil service and microfilter fitted from main dealer, while I waited (1 hour)

I expected over £100...poss £150...

it cost me £380!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can this REALLY be right? The dealer said because of the amount of oil!

(I'm in the UK, England)

Doctor, I paid $169 for a 5,000 mile oil change without the microfilter replacement. The 10 liters of oil cost $100. I can't imagine the microfilter replace adds that much to the bill.

Check under the hood. Maybe they installed a supercharger.

Nobody buys and drives an M3 such cheap like you guys in the States!
We have to pay 50% more for the car, have only 2 years warranty and pay every single service - enjoy your ride

Unless my pound/dollar conversion is out of whack, that is just insane. You sure you didn't pay in yuan?

I wonder why a similar compensation does not apply here in Greece... Maybe because here we are able to drink lots of ouzo and then drive

Probably not for a 15k service with microfilter and standard scope. Maybe that is why he paid more? I found the OEM microfilter set here for $120 : http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E90-M3-...imate_Control/

A dealer in the UK might sell it for more. So maybe $100 for oil, $17-20 for filter, and $120+ for microfilters. That is around $240 without any labor. If they billed him for a diagnostic fee (standard scope), we are looking at at least 1 hour of labor at $100+ an hour.

This would be essentially the same 15K service that is provided by BMW in the free maintenence program. With that said, I could see it being a $400 service if done properly.

Nobody ever said owning an ///M car was cheap

15K service? there is no set intervals for the service on the M3 - I was told the car tells me when a service needs doing and what needs doing in that service. I have 10k on my car and the obc is telling me it needs an oil change in september - the car is 2 years old then! Does this sound correct to you guys?

Well, heres some news to cheer you up. I had my original E92 first pay for oil service (around 17k miles) and got shafted for £470

Douglas Park, Hillington near Glasgow, Scotland - named and shamed - avoid at all costs!!

After writing the car off shortly after, I acquired a slightly newer (08) E92 and when I had this serviced at Harry Fairbairn (and with a 20% discount due to one of my friends working there) it only cost £250 ....
