I'll be there, but with my E46 sedan. Brakes and tires too expensive on the E90 with 2 kids in college. By the way, this is a fantastic track - big fun!

I'll be there with my 135i, and Mtrizzy will be there with his E90 M3. Can't wait.

You don't have to be a member to attend NJ Chapter events, but we encourage it. We also give preference to members. (This policy varies from chapter to chapter, by the way.)

IN any event, anybody who buys a new BMW would be nuts not to be a member of CCA. If you're a member for at least a year and you buy or lease a new Bimmer, you get $500 to $1,500 back from BMW NA. Plus, Roundel is a great magazine. For $40 a year, it's a great deal.

Anyway, rant over.

Eveyone's is welcome at the NJ Chapter event at SPR in July. We don't accept late registrations - so make sure you get yours' in soon if you plan to attend. More info available at njbmwcca.org. Make sure you follow the tech procedures carefully - we're very serious about it.

...especially those of you who have tints on their windows...

Midlife, I am not sure yet if I can attend but will try my best. To be honest, I am also a little worried about my tires not making it through the second day and not really sure if I should get a second set at this point.

I know what you mean MTROIS. After playing with the M3 at Thunderbolt, I slapped a new set of PS2's on it and retired it from track duty for a while. It's back to the E46 328i for me. At 193 HP, I'm toying with the idea of chip, intake, and exhaust for it. I'm afraid that when I get it back on the track I'll be looking for better acceleration. 414 HP may have spoiled me.

However, every wear part on the 328 (tires, brake pads and rotors) is at worst half the price of M3 parts. I've got a UUC suspension and some other handling upgrades on it, and it's fantastic in the turns. (Maybe better than the M3 with EDC - and it's 400 pounds lighter.) I'll put the M3 back on the track when the kids get out of college in a few years.

I cannot attend. However, I would be interested in a report of track conditions. Last time I ran with them there the track was not in very good condition. I hope it is better this time.

I can't wait. This will be my first time at Summit Point, so I have some studying to do. I just changed my rear tires, and I changed my fronts right before I went to the Glen in May, so I should be ready to go on that front.

I'll probably tech the car a week prior to the event. I can't wait.

The following repairs are to be done at Summit Point main July 7. Turn one concrete to be removed and new layed down. Asphalt at turn 5-6 to be resurfaced. I will be there July 13-14 with Track Daze, will let you know the conditions. Improvemnets neeeded to be made for sure. MBNA is also running the same weekend you guys are but at the shenadoah course. I think the main is better for M3 get to use more of our power.
Just my two cents buy track insurance.

They have opened a hotel right at the Charlestown casino and horserace track. It is 10 minutes at the most from SPoint. Newest hotel in the area, great bed and HD flat screen on the wall. Breakfast included. The casino isnt bad only slots. The town of Harpers Ferry is pretty cool, about 20 minutes away. Old civil war town on the river. Google Charlestown race and slots will tell you everything. It is the best and newest hotel in the area. Hope this helps.

NJBMWCCA also reserves a block of rooms at the Comfort Suites on Route 9in Martinsburg. The club rate is $65 per night. It's about a 25 minute drive to the track, but it's a straight shot down Leetown Road - a nice drive.

If you are sharing the track how much track time do you expect to receive?
How many cars on the track at the same time?
Thanks

What do you mean by sharing the track? I think for the Race/School NJBMWCCA ususally runs 3 groups plus racers. Decent amount of track time - probably four 25 minute +/- sessions per day. Not too many people on track at the same time, but I'm not sure exactly how many.

I know I'm not an M3 guy, but nobody in the 1addicts forum is talking about this track day. I'm getting excited and can't wait to work on my skills and to work out my little monster.

I just checked on openings, and the response was "just about full" for the beginner/intermediate group. However, they usually get a couple of cancellations, so they're still encouraging people to sign up and get on the waiting list.

For the club racers out there, there's still space in the race groups.

I can't wait for next weekend. Does anyone have an address to put into the BMW's GPS?

I tracked on the main course Monday and tuesday with Track Daze. Turn one was fixed new concrete put down. Front left tire on left corner of concrete perfect for turn in to turn one. THis week they layed new asphalt between turn 5-6. Everything else was cool.
Should be good weather. See you guys there.

Good to hear. Sounds like they may have fixed it. Turn two was pretty bad also, with broken black top in the middle of the track. Cut the turn tight, early, and track out was bad. Take it late, and the sand pit could come into play. I decided to wait before going back. Would be interested in hearing additional reports.
Thanks, vz

Are there any good videos on youtube or similar sites for me to get a better idea of the layout of the track?
