Fog Light: Mod to turn on automatically
Anyone know of a mod to have the fog lights go on, along with the other lights, when the light switch is in auto mode? I think this might just be a wiring job.
I like how the car looks when the fog lights are on, but I hate having to turn them on manually. I know some other cars have it programmed so that they turn on automatically. This would be nice to have. Also, anyone know if it's legal to have these on when there's no fog? Thanks! |

I think its illegal to have them on when there is no fog and it is very bright and bothersome for people behind you. I dont think its a good idea. just my opinion. I love the way they look on too. Is it really that bothersome to just hit the button?...lol

Its not illegal to have fog lights on. It IS illegal to have fog lights and high lights on at the same time.

i had a thread a while back asking the same thing but in all honestly it would require a lot of wiring and relays and such and if something goes wrong there goes your warranty
just press the button |

I have a problem with my fog lights, they stay on even with the High Beams, for that reason i wasnt able to pass my state inspection. Does anyone has any idea in how to fix this?
I was thinking what it could be 1. Relay for the fog lights 2. The turn signal switch (is not sending the signal to the relay to turn off the fog lights) 3. I dont know. Those two are the only things that i can think of, anybody else?

For California, see the Revised Code of California...or read here http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/wa...ction=retrieve Paragraph 24405 "24405. (4) Warning lamps. (5) Spot lamps. (6) Gaseous discharge lamps specified in Section 25258. (b) For the purpose of this section each pair of a dual headlamp system shall be considered as one lamp. (c) Subdivision (a) does not apply to any authorized emergency vehicle." Researching is FUN KIDS! |

I had my last car setup to rock, lows, high, and Fogs at the sametime. (I only drive like this in the mountains on backroads, mostly for animals and debris on the road). *** Side note to others: You law abiding citizens are funny, I bet you dont go then 1 MPH over the speed limit either. You can try wiring them to the angel eyes with a diode in between. There is a thread that talks about wiring the angel eyes as DRLs and they wire the AEs to the cigg lighter.
Well wire the fogs to the AEs, which IIRC, was pin #2. Put a diode in between to prevent an error...the diode specs are in that DIY. |

FYI...when you pull the stalk TOWARD you to "flash-to-pass," the fogs STAY ON.
When you push the stalk away from you, the fogs are OFF. Make sure your car is doing this....like others have said it is illegal for the fogs to be on with the high beams. |
