Techs: TCU replaced...would DME/ECU been updated?
I recently brought my 07 335i in for service of the SOS system.
They swapped another TCU in, then decided it was time to RTFM and found a TSB related to my issue. This resulted in re-installation of my old TCU, and reprogramming the MIN/MDN numbers per PuMA. Would the installation of another TCU (or reinstallation of my old TCU) require them to perform an update to the DME/ECU? The invoice shows no programming other than the MIN/MDN numbers...wouldn't they have to put a line item on there for it? I'm confused because I was lurking around and found this sentence: "Note that Progman will automatically reprogram all programmable control units that do not have the latest software." As a pre-29.2 virgin car holder, I'm trying to determine the likelihood that I'll be unable to re-install my JB2H today -and- have to deal with the crud that comes with the update. Sorry to rant, but I'm really frustrated b/c I asked them to note my car/account NOT to update the DME/ECU. But half the stuff I asked them to do wasn't done, and the other half was a rigged job. Ugh. |

Yes it does. They were supposed to replace a couple missing screws on my cabin filter cover. They used bolts instead. WTF.
Take a look at the crappy job: The bolts are way bigger than the old screws, so those a-holes better replace my screws, filter cover, and the base they screw into b/c its holes are now stripped out. I'm OT: Any techs here know if that TCU stuff above would result in a DME/ECU update?? |

Having just bought a house, and rebuilt my 300ZX-TT, and paid off another car .... not in the coffers this month.
I just wanted to get my 30k service and come home, install my JB2H/Intake again, and have a little fun. Appreciate the suggestion but that's the scenario I am trying to avoid...would have been nice if BMW had the courtesy to spit on it before they shoved it in. |

Most likely they did have to program the vehicle. PM me your invoice or attach it here. also look for the codes 6100801 or 6100811 on there...

they submitted the warranty claim and didnt claim for programming, so more then likely the car was not programmed.

And if it was, I think I found a guy on the n54tech forums (battlehawk1025) and PM'd him b/c he has a BT scanner. If there are codes -- I'll delete them before it goes back to BMW.
I appreciate you guys taking time to help me. This is a great community. [[[ OT: Can you tell me, from the pic above: Those hex bolts aren't right, are they? The tech grabbed something random that fit, not the right parts...on top of that they broke my clip off the power cable holder so the right side sags now. You can see in that picture. WTF. ]]] I really need that JB2H back on -- this thing is a DOG without it. |
