Michigan blue E92 335d. New pics P2, now clayed.

Finally the rain stopped since i got the car, and i had the chance to get some autoglym srp on it.

Still got to clay and full detail her, for the paint to 'pop', but am glad i've got a layer of polish on to start.

Hope you like, i do. And jee's it's quick!

I saw this colour yesterday at the stealers, it looks stunning in the flesh, not sure your photos do it justice.

Great car and colour choice.

Looks fantastic just makes me all the more impatient for my 330iM next week; Individual colours are great imho

A question to you and any other detailing experts out there. Will you really need to clay this? BMW only started to build my car 3 weeks ago so precious little time for it to have accumulated much contamination - its not as though it has been sitting at Thorne or a dealers for any length of time. It arrived in UK on 13 May and was presumably covered in the pre-delivery stuff.

I would like to think that it would be absolutely pristine on Wed when I collect it! I suppose the question is what should they have done to it or what won't the dealer have done in prepping it?

Enjoy

It should be pretty good, but a lot depends on the dealership. I picked mine up last saturday and the finish was immaculate. Paintwork was VERY smooth and I couldn't spot any contaminants. On a white car I was expecting to see at least some. I washed it last night after snowfoaming it, and the paint really is very very smooth. I am going to try some clay at the weekend and see if it picks up anything. If it doesn't I am not going to clay the whole car as the dealer applied 'seal and protect' as a freebie and am pretty sure claying it will remove that finish.

I have some Dodo Juice 'Light Fantastic' to apply to it, so hopefully build up a few layers of that over the weekend. I have read on the detailing forums that it is a great wax and it might be worth popping ovr there and seeing what waxes they recommend for a car of your colour.

Hope this helps! Enjoy your new motor, it looks fantastic and I do love these individual paint colours

It's really up to what standards you have personally. For me, i could feel the difference between the "corrected" pait on my golf, and this one, straight away. Dealers, i'm afraid don't do new cars any justice. We've all seen the old guy in the back washing them with a rammy sponge.

Autoglym srp has some abraisive properties, allbeit extreamly mild. And with a carefull, but quite heavy application, should be adequate for most.

I'll be claying mine. I'm considering machine polish too. But would think clay will suffice.

The paint on the beemer has a lot to live up to though.......

Thanks, mine is in Midnight Blue so will get some pics up of that next week once I have it

BTW like the AW M3 - my second Beemer was an AW 323i back in 85 - AW was fashionable then as well!

clearly some time, skill, effort and patience there! I would hope Park Lane's prep is exemplary considering where they are and dealing with all the Diplomatic stuff etc. Hopefully not some old bloke out back with a manky sponge that would get the big from me!

Hi stunning looking car!! Alot of people i know myself included wont let the dealers touch thier cars, i've known people to bring thier new car home still covered in delivery wax!! Not putting all the dealers in the same box but if they should happen to drop the sponge which you shouldn't go within a 100yds of your pride and joy with the demon sponge (Lambswool mitt) they wont really be that bothered and most of them wont use the 2 bucket method. With the range of products available now, spend £100 on a desent mitt two buckets a quality shampoo, clay bar and lube ,microfibre drying towel, wax and tyre gel and prep your new £25,000 plus car yourself or by a pro detailer will save you the misery and cost of the evil swirl marks

Nice looking car mate really like the colour

Also love your golf and the Corrado too. The corrado in particular is a classic IMO.

Were the golf photos taken at Tatton Park by chance?
