Done with lease end inspection.... quick question about RFT tires

So my lease is going back on June 12th... I just got the car inspection done by Data Scan Field Services (thats who BMW uses) and I just got a report from them which shows that i owe NOTHING. The report mentioned the tires as

Left Front: KUMHO 9/32
Right Front:KUMHO 9/32
Left Rear:BRIDGESTONE 6/32
Right Rear:KUMHO 8/32

I replaced the RFT's on the car 5k miles into the lease and they are sitting in my garage...The KUMHOs are NOT RFT (I had someone slash one of the Kumhos and hence the bridgestone was a quick replacement)

Now I just called BMW and they said as per this report I do not owe anything (assuming there will be no other damage untill lease end)

My question is... should I bother paying money to place the RFT back on? Could they later deduct money from my security deposit? Would they have any right?

As far as I know if your car has RFT's your car has to be returned with the same equipement that you drove the car off the lot. Now if BMW does not notice that the car doesn't have the RFT's then you are clear......

good luck.....

The report is a preliminary report. They will check the car again.

BMW dealers do know that the terms of the lease require run flat tires.

It would be unwise not to return the car with them.

I guess I'll pay someone to slap those babies back on.... now the problem arises is that I have no proof that the car was returned with runflats once the dealer takes it from me... do I get a receipt of some sort?

We returned our 2005 530i Sport that came with RFT, with normal tires and we never got charged a dime. Just return as is.

The dealer may also be more lenient depending on your relationship with them. If you're a good customer (or are leasing a new one when your current one goes back) they might be more forgiving.

Take pictures to be sure though. Normally, leased cars that come with RFTs need to have RFTs on them at lease return.

I had my car inspected the other day and the guy did say that BMW has the final say and they may adjust the cost. Also I was under the impression that when you returned the car you and a BMW rep would sign something and that would be that, if they find anything at a later date I don't think they can get anything off you, although I do remember reading a thread about an instance like that a week or so ago on here.
