Smile My E90 and his new brother (Merc haters beware)

Here are a few pics of my 320i and my new Slk200, which I finally got on Friday 04/06. Just my luck - the weekend I got it was the coldest weekend this winter so far! At least the Airscarf system works great!
Image quality sucks - I took them with my cellphone. My digital camera died recently

The scale models are really cool. Pitty that you don't get them in the colours of my actual cars.

nice cars....want to ask a question though, is it really as bad as the media portrays it to drive nice cars in SA? Are carjackings something the general public really has to contend with on a daily basis? Do you get scared driving such nice cars around sometimes? thanks

You're on the wrong side!
In the olden days, most people were right handed, so if you needed to shoot or swish your sword at someone, or clip them round the ear you would keep to the left (of road), so you're right hand (stong hand) would be at the attacking side.

I didn't make that up, apparently it's true.

Nice cars Johan

I think the whole issue is a bit exaggerated. Sure, people do get carjacked, but it's mostly cash-in-transit vans or pick-ups or people get robbed at intersections because they display their cell phones, briefcases and notebooks on the passenger side for everyone to see. Of course, there are exceptions.
Locally, most insurance companies force you to install some kind of tracking device in your car. This makes luxury cars a bit less of a target to carjackers/thieves. I have never felt unsafe driving around anywhere. That said, I avoid Johannesburg and Pretoria CBD's like the plague at night.

Nice cars! I had always been a fan of the Merc interior. And the new SLK is a beauty to behold.

The Slk model does kinda look like Sonora in the picture. I think it's actually Cubanite Silver, which is the same colour as my Slk. That's what you get for taking pictures with a piece of sh*t camera
The model does look a little lighter. Might just be that the model manufacturers could not get the colour accurate enough.

Not sure why the SLK200 Kompressor isn't available everywhere. Locally we get the 200, 350 and 55AMG. Given, the 200 isn't much of a performer with only 120KW on tap, but it feels very sporty to drive.

The ride's fine for a "sports car". You can actually drive a long way in it without losing your kidneys. Lumber support isn't great though, but OK enough.

To climkt:

I too really like the Z4 and love the Cayman, but the latter is just out of my financial reach at the moment

I chose the SLK over the Z4 mainly because of the following reasons:
1) VarioRoof (very cool feature, though it does take up a lot of boot *******
2) Airscarf
3) In-your-face SLR front end (Given, this is a love or hate thing, I LOVE it)
4) I can drive it for 6 months and still get my money back or even make a small profit (try doing that with a Z4 locally!)

Besides, it's a crossover vehicle till I get the E93!!!
