engine oil level question
I checked my oil through the guage cluster, and the oil read at the halfway mark. So, I added a half quart of oil. I let the car sit for a while and then drove home. I checked the oil before I got home, and the oil level was still reading the same. Any idea what's going on here? Thanks in advance.

I had my gauge tell me i'm a quart low, drive for 5 minutes and all of a sudden i'm a quart high. Stop the car and let it idle for a few minutes, and i'm in the middle. turn it off, come back and check it when the car is cold....and its high again. I didnt trust that thing AT ALL. Its kind of like the water temp gauge in my e36. The factory one just has a middle area with no temps and then a right area that shows your overheating. My car also has an aftermarket water temp gauge so I actually know whats going on. Well it looks like the factory temp gauge does not move from the middle until you literally have overheated and are pegged at 240+ water temps.....its idiotic.
