Just installed JB3

The install was quite a breeze except putting back on the ecu cover Install time was about 45 mins including reassembly. I went to put on the filter cover back on and I lost one of the 8mm screws in the engine bay Hopefully I can find a replacement before servicing I left the JB3 on the default map and man, what a difference!! It is way more than I expected. I think I will drive with map 3 for a few days, then try map 4. I don't want to go any higher than that without supporting mods. Any of you guys run higher than 4 with no supporting mods?

I lost one of my screws too. You better find it quick, I took like a gazillion bolts to get the underpanel off and couldnt find it. All the road shock must have shook it out.

Congratz on the install!

congrats on the install!!

which version do you have? 1.22v or 1.3v? when i had my 1.22v i drove map 4 and 6 daily. the high rpm pull on map 4 is ridiculous but map 6 is consistent from low rpm throughout the powerband.

as for the 1.3v now. very smooth power. i would suggest you upgrade your chip whenever possible.

Congrats!
Give it some time to adapt and it will get even better!

I am guessing your 1.3 offical?

What octane/mods do you have other then the JB3? Temps around your area?

depend of octane you run. For my friend (e93 bone stock) no problem with map #7 on 94oct. On last 1.3 rev4

Did you get CEL as soon as you start up? I heard they go away in a few days.

I am using the latest version 1.3. Was shipped direct from Terry. I do not have any other supporting mods other than that of the stock oil cooler that came with the sport package. When I started up the car, no CEL came on, although some other funny warnings came up. I got the 4x4 warning indicator, xdrive fail indicator, and brake pad fail indicator. As soon as I drove off, all of them went away. They haven't been back yet. I disconnected the neg term on the batt, and I am not sure if everyone does the same. I unfortunately don't have anything higher than 91 octane here in Calgary besides Mohawk and Husky which have 94, but up to 10% ethanol. I don't trust it after all the crap I have been reading about the HPFP failures. I am 1000 meters above sea level so due to the atmospheric pressure here, I don't think knock will be much of an issue and 91 octane should be fine. I don't think there would be much advantage even if we had 94 octane. I live in Alberta which is one of the world's largest producers of oil and gas, so you would think that stations would be loaded with 94 octane if it did make a difference.

91 vs 94 = yes difference...probably 10hp...I think

You could try a magnet to get the bolt. Find the bolt with the magnet and then move to one of the openings. It worked like a charm for me.

I'm scared to try map 6 or 7 without supporting mods. I think 5 will be the limit for me until I get a DP and FMIC.

Does the DCI actually give you a big performance increase or is it just for sound?

With a tune, a DCI will give noticeable HP gain and the added induction noise that accompanies it!

The two biggest things I noticed with the DCI is sound and decreased spool time. Hard to actually feel the extra power.

I think more for sound, but there are dyno's to prove there are gains. I just did a filter swap; BMC from RPI and I noticed better throttle response.

Those warning are normal after a battery disconnect. A little trick to get rid of the 4x4 and xdrive warnings is when you first start the car up turn the steering wheel all the way left and then all the way right or vice versa.

Is this safe? I thought you would have to have more supporting mods to run that high of a map. Mine will be arriving in a few days and all I have is the BMS DCI. We have 93 octane around here what is the highest map i can run?
