Just switched from SSTT to JB3 pnp. And disappointed !!!
Couple of days ago I switched to JB3 pnp. I am using map 4 with 93 octane gas. I drove about 150 miles since the switch. My car is stock except cosmetic mods. According to what I read in this forum I was expecting a substantial power gain. But didn't happen... I certainly noticed to power gain over 4500 rpm as SSTT was dying at high rpm but during daily driving I rarely go over 4500 rpm. So it feels like I didn't gain anything
So my questions are: 1 - Am I fooling myself by expecting too much from this switch? 2 - Should I allow my car more time to adapt/adjust? 3 - Is this the expected behavior of JB3? 4 – Any suggestions??? Thanks |

SSTT does well down low, but you are right it dies up top :\ I found shifting at 6k rpm's seems to work best (on my friend's car, stock with SSTT). To avoid throwing codes the major chip tuners lowered boost a bit down low (they were hitting 450 rwtq and dropped it to like 400rwtq on their highly modified cars) so you might not be seeing a "ton" more power down below 4500 RPM's where you said you mostly stayed. I think to appreciate your JB3 you will need to floor it to 6500 RPM's a few times and see how you like it then. Try going from about 80-140 shifting at 6500 and see how you feel...

I had the SSTT for over a year and just switched to the JB3. HUGE difference. I ran maps 4 and 6 for ~2 days. The car hadn't even adapted completely! I was running V1.22.

OP - do this:
Without pressing the brake, get in your car, and hit the start button twice (puts the car in electronics mode - i.e. don't start the car) Step on the accelerator pedal ALL the way down for approximately 5-6 seconds (puts the ECU in listening mode) let go of the accelerator fully depress the accelerator 3 times to put it in map 3 and then start your car. Test drive and feel the difference! If that didn't work, then hunker up and get on map 5! |

If you dont feel a VERY VERY noticeable difference, you are doing it wrong. |

i never tried the sst, but when it comes to the jb/procede/other piggy backs, its all about wot performance. If the tune is right, they should all feel roughly the same just driving around town. Once you get on it though, its a whole new ball game
